In 2009 the focus included specialising inthe field of High Voltage Electricalinstallations and Master Planning ofMetropolitan Municipal and other powersystems.We have a vast experience in the masterplanning of high tension electricaltransmission, distribution and reticulationnetworks for local authorities as well asEskom.

A full spectrum of electrical consultingengineering services from HV overheadlines, underground cables, substations(indoor and outdoor), power systemprotection and control systems, SCADAsystems, telemetering, etc is offered. Otherspecialties include renewable energyprojects such as wind generation farms.

Scope of Services

Service, with regard to the monitoring and analysis ofelectrical networks or related systems, with the aid ofelectronic data recorders are offered. Data on variouschannels is recorded continuously and analysed by acomputer which can for example identify peak values,calculate averages, integration over time intervals andsummations etc., in order to calculate the performance of thesystem as well as to analyse design parameters.

System analysis of electrical current, voltage, power factorand other parameters such as temperature is offered.

Data Logging and Analysis

Electrical

Master planning of municipal and other distributionsystems which involves the logging and evaluation ofdata and studying and research of existing electricalsystems in order to determine a comprehensivesystem master plan for all present and future electricalsupply requirements. Load flow studies is done usingthe latest sophisticated computer programmes.

Bulk and high tension distribution which include powerlines and cable feeders 275kV to 11kV, Infeed stations400kV to 88kV, Distribution substations 132kV to11kV.

Township reticulation which covers residential andindustrial townships; street lighting – ripple, telemetricand digital load control; metering and optimised lowcost township reticulation.

Building installations which includes electricaldistribution; clean power and lightning protectionEmergency power installations which includeemergency generators; battery systems anduninterrupted power supplies

Power Factor Correction; Process Control; powerdistribution and control interlocking for industrialprocesses and pump installations including motorcontrol centres as well as lightning protection andearthing.

Our professional engineering services includedesign and project management of all types of highvoltage substations. Our flexibility in adapting toclient’s philosophies and specifications ensures thatwe best meet their requirements.

Air-Insulated Outdoor SubstationsConventional outdoor substations can be designedto suit a client’s particular requirements. Individualitems of equipment are dependent on thesubstation’s voltage level, busbar scheme andnumber of feeders and air-insulated substationsrequire a relatively large area of land which needsto be fenced.

Gas-Insulated Substations (GIS)Gas insulated substations generally are used inspace constrained areas. Because of thecompactness of the equipment which only requiresa small area of land and minimal civil work resultingin substantial savings and makes GIS compatiblewith AIS at higher voltages.

Cellular-type Indoor Substations (AICS)Innovative design and development of specialisedequipment make air-insulated cellular indoorsubstation designs viable through the use of localoutdoor-type equipment within a building. Morethan 15 cellular indoor substations have beendesigned.
