HILL FARM NEWS INSPIRING LEARNERS, IMPROVING LIVES 17 JULY 2020 HEADTEACHER’S MESSAGE VALUE OF THE MONTH – PRIDE A VALUE IS A PRINCIPLE THAT GUIDES OUR THINKING AND BEHAVIOUR Dear Parent/carer As we come to the end of our school year and a very different summer term to the one we expected, it is hard to remember life before Covid-19! The wonderful memories of the trips, sport, activities, performances, music, parent events and celebration assemblies that took place in the autumn and spring term have been overshadowed as our experience of school changed almost overnight. However, it is these experiences that have helped mould and shape the children’s character to help them cope with this sudden change and gave them the strength and resilience to engage with distance learning in a way that could not have been imagined prior to March. I am incredibly proud of how as a school community, we have continued to educate our pupils both on and off-site and would like to say thank you to all our families that have supported us with this. I would also like to say a special thank you to the care group children and year groups who have attended school throughout this period. They have experienced a very different school to what they are used to and have shown a remarkable capacity to adapt to an ever changing environment. Yesterday was a day of mixed emotions as we said goodbye to our year 6 pupils. I am pleased we were still able to offer many of the end of year traditions that included a water-fight, shirt signing, leaver’s performance and an awards ceremony. Although different, the performance clearly demonstrated the talented children who are leaving our school and hinted at the success they will enjoy as they move onto the next stage of their journey. Although we were saddened that we could not share the occasion with parents and carers, the picnic and awards ceremony showed how close the children are and their support of each other was testament to the kind and generous pupils we are lucky enough to work with every day at Hill Farm. Every child was recognised for their individual contribution to our school and honoured with some very appropriate awards that only teachers who cared about and knew them as individuals could have presented. We wish them every success and good luck for the future. We now look towards September with renewed vigour as we will once again be able to welcome all children back into school. There is a parent booklet available on the website that details information about what to expect, staggered start and finish times as well as the stringent, safety measures that are in place to ensure Hill Farm is as safe as we can make it for everyone. All that is left for me now is to wish you a relaxing summer. Thank you, as always, for your support, Dawn Wilson – HeadteacherSCHOOL UNIFORM SCHOOL UNIFORM Just a reminder to say that as from Monday 20 July you will be able to purchase all our uniform from Andy Blair Sports & Schoolwear store, which is situated at 88-90 Barker's Butts Lane, Coundon, Coventry CV6 1DY. NURSERY

The children were very surprised to find us in a different classroom but

have absolutely loved exploring the new environment. This week we decided to have a mini sports day in the garden. We did a variety of races including; running, balancing a hoop on our heads and frog jumping. The children were fantastic and won themselves a medal and certificate.

To end the week, and to celebrate those children having birthdays during the summer holiday, we had a little party. Mrs Rowbottom, Miss Webb and Mrs Mahers decorated the room and bought in some tasty treats. The children enjoyed playing some different party games too!

YEAR 6 CELEBRATIONS

It was a fantastic send off for the most deserving Year 6s this week. They started

the week with a Hill Farm tradition of a school water fight!

Even the rubbish weather wasn’t going to stop them. On Wednesday, we had

our annual Sports Day including some silly olympics.

Their final day included digging up the time

capsule and reading letters from themselves

they’d written over a year ago and a

showing of their different (but hilarious) end

of year performance, which will be shared

on our website for you all to see.

In the afternoon, the sun began to shine for the picnic on the field followed by the end of year awards

and assembly.

Well done to the winners of the Hill Farm Legacy awards, which were presented to the children that have

shown particular strengths in the following areas of school life:

Outstanding Achievement – Filip M

Values – Rodolfo

Contribution to School Life – Cosmina

Sports Endeavour – Rani

Inspiration Award – Cody

Contribution to the Arts – Jessica

We are so proud of all of the children and what they have achieved throughout their time at Hill Farm,

including this final bizarre year.

We wish them all the best as they start their journeys onto secondary school!
