HISTORIA HODOWLI

W 1961 roku Karel Meulemans i jego ojciec Jan wybrali się po gołębie do Josa van den Boscha,który mieszkał w niewielkiej miejscowości Berlaar. Bardzo ważnym punktem w hodowli Meulemansa był zakup u van den Boscha czekoladowej samiczki (siostry "Princess"), od której później pochodził ciemny pstry samczyk o nr. B-67-6729926 który znany był na całym świecie jako "De Oude van den Bosch", który razem z samiczką "Janssen" tworzył jedną z najsłynniejszych par rozpłodowych na świecie. Jak już wcześniej wspomniałem matka "De Oude van den Boscha" była barwy rdzawo-brązowej i ten kolor powraca w następnych pokoleniach tej rasy aż po dzień dzisiejszy.

W latach 60-tych Karel Meulemans lotował wspólnie z Adriaanem Woutersem. Wouters był przyjacielem braci Janssen stąd też w gołębniku Meulemansa znalazła sie juz wcześniej wspomniana samiczka ,która z ciemnym samczykiem od van den Boscha tworzyła złota parę. W spółce Meulemans-Wouters, Meulemans zajmował się rozpłodem natomiast Wouters lotami. W roku 1975 Wouters zmarł i tu ciekawostka, w tym samym dniu zmarł także "Merckx" gołąb który był najlepszym lotnikiem jakiego posiadał Meulemans (21 razy pierwszy w konkursie). W roku 1980 Karel Meulemans zmuszony niejako swoją sytuacją zdecydował sprzedać jedne ze swoich najlepszych gołębi: "Kadeta", "Prinsa", "Schoon Donker", "Bonte" i wiele innych. "Kadet" powrócił jednak do hodowli i stał się czołowym rozpłodowcem. Po zuchwałej kradzieży między innymi "Kadeta" Meulemans załamał się jednak nie zawiodło go potomstwo "Kadeta", które znowu postawiło go na nogi.

Gołębie rasy Meulemans święcą triumfy w wielu znaczących gołębnikach w Europie i na całym świecie. Należy wspomnieć choćby o Gommaire Verbruggenie który zakupił "Witneusa", który z kolei wydał wiele czołowych lotników. Następnie należy wspomnieć o takich hodowcach jak: Hermes,Ritz, Geerts, Eijerkamp, van Beerendonk, Beverdam, Zimmerman itd., u których gołębie rasy Muelemans wywalczyły wiele nagród i sa podstawą gołębnika po dziś dzień. HISTORY OF THE MEULEMANS STRAIN.KAREL MEULEMANS, ARENDONK......the legacy of a fantastic strain that concurred the world, still to be found in the stocklofts of Herman Beverdam in Enter.

It started in 1976, when Herman Beverdam visited the stockloft of Karel Meulemans and Frans Marien and handled the fantastic "GOLDEN PAIR", B67-6729926, "THE VAN DEN BOSCH" and B66-6122023, the "BLAUW JANSSEN". A brilliant combination that was put together by the late ADRIAAN WOUTERS the SUPER CHAMPION RACER in ARENDONK and KAREL MEULEMANS, the owner of the VAN DEN BOSCH, when was decided to have all the stockbirds in Meulemans loft and the racing would take place in Adriaan Wouters loft. It was in 1989, the first year that this unique pair was put together, when B69-6653841 was bred from it. His name would become "MERCKX"! He won 6 firsts as a yearling and from 1971 untill 1974 he won from Quievrain: 1, 2, 24, 2, 6, 16, 2, 1. From Noyon: 2, 5, 2, 6, 9, 15, 2, 25, 12, 1, 16, 2, 1, 45. From Corbeil he scored 44, 2, 35, 17, 147, 1, 15, 287, 1, 4. From Dourdan 27, 718, 60, 4. From Montargis 6, 6, 2. From Etampes 13, 147, 188 and from Orleans 4th place, all prizes without doubles! He was also NATIONAL ACE PIGEON MIDDLE DISTANCE and represented Belgium at the Olympiad in Budapest 1975.

KAREL MEULEMANS AND ADRIAAN WOUTERSADRIAAN WOUTERS AND MERCKX

On the 6th of June 1975 the "MERCKX" flew into one of the lofts windows and died from internal bleeding an hour later Adriaan Wouters, who already suffered bad health, died ! The family of Wouters decided to call pigeon-racing a day and all birds would have to be auctioned. In his will however Adriaan Wouters had decided that Karel Meulemans for his work and the in-bringing of the VAN DEN BOSCH in the colony, could have 20 lots in double, two pigeons for auction, the buyer has his pick and the bird left would be for Karel Meulemans, for which bird he would have to pay the same amount as the lot was auctioned for to the Wouters family. The young birds were sold and the old birds auction was cancelled as a new partnership was founded, Adriaan Wouters son in law, Frans Marien and Karel Meulemans. Again the Wouters family part would race and Karel Meulemans would take care of the breeders. From 1975 onwards the name Marien-Meulemans was to be found in all major championships and the Meulemans pigeons became a household name in pigeonsport.All was going great for this partnership, in 1979 they won nearly everything what could be won! So 1980 was for sure going to be as good, but the misfortune followed the Wouters family! Frans Marien's tragic death, just before racing started in 1980, was the cause to break-up the partnership of the Wouters family and Karel Meulemans. It resulted in the more or less forced goodbye of the so much charished stockloft of the family of pigeons realised by Karel. On October 26th 1980 all the pigeons of the partnership Marien-Meulemans were sold by auction in Arendonk. It was a record-breaking auction, in which sale the last-will of Adriaan Wouters was effected and Karel Meulemans was allowed to have 20 birds in bis, as originaly at the sale of the birds of Adriaan Wouters. Karel Meulemans placed his foundation birds in double and by buying these lotnumbers, he was sure to have both of the birds back in his loft. From that day and after having spent a fortune on more or less his own pigeons, Karel Meulemans was on his own! It took him some years to build up a new racing loft under the name Damen-Meulemans, his daughter Linda and her husband. The Meulemans pigeons have done their part, they came and were succesfull as before ! The Meulemans pigeons did it world wide! From 1976 onwards Herman Beverdam got only from the very best of Karel Meulemans, including son and daughters of the famous "GOLDEN PAIR".
