Congrats to those that were able to con- quer the Escape Room, and those that didn’t had a fun story to share! As we near the end of February in Wisconsin, it starts to feel like the warmer weather will never get here, but Major and Minor League Baseball pitchers and catchers have already reported to training camps, and spring will be here before we know it. With our busiest time of year rapidly approaching, it is important for us to take time to highlight some of our accomplishments, recognize what made these projects successful, and discuss how we can continue to grow and improve. Featured Projects: HobbyTown, Green Bay: Trailer Wrap, Trade Show Displays, Electronic Billboard Ads Andrew Roever, Owner of the Green Bay HobbyTown, first contacted TLC for his trailer wrap needs. He loved the design and the results of the finished wrap, so he came back to us with his design needs for trade show displays and electronic billboard ads. He was so happy with our work that he took the time to write a very positive five-star review on our Facebook page: “The team at TLC is great to work with. From design to implementation. I had a trailer designed and vinyled that is eye catching. Also had them do design work for an electronic billboard and trade show display. All the work was done professionally and at a very reasonable price. Will definitely be getting more of my marketing design needs.” This is the level of service we strive to provide for our customers every day, it sets us apart from other sign companies and keeps our customers coming back. Dairy Queen, Appleton, Oneida and Richmond Street: Pylon Sign, Electronic Message Centers We recently installed new EMCs at DQ’s Oneida and Richmond Street locations, which included additonal support structure at Richmond Street to comply with minimum set- back requirements and a new pylon structure at Oneida Street due to the planned road costruction. We were able to make the old signs new again by keeping the iconic rotating DQ logos at the top of each structure, and the EMCs had immediate impact. Nicole, Man- ager at both locations, said, “Since the addition of our digital reader board we have not only noticed increased customer traffic, but also a unique ability to connect with the public when we have a special event or fundraiser going on. This year, with the addition of our digital reader board at our second location, we saw our most successful Toys for Tots campaign. We were able to deliver an entire SUV full of toys to the drop off site! We have also used the digital reader board to promote events like Miracle Treat Day and Round Up campaigns that support our local Children’s Hospital.” So much of what we do is helping businesses succeed, and it’s great to hear the feedback when an EMC we installed has a positive impact on not just our customer, but the community they serve. Bargain Garden Thrift Shop, Appleton: Building Sign This project was referred to us by one of our real estate customers, J. Ross & Associates. They remodeled the facade of one of their properties, which left some of their tenants needing new signs. They recom- mended Elaine Bartel, Owner of Bargain Garden Thrift Shop, contact TLC for her new sign. When the project was completed, Elaine said, “From my first phone call inquiring about a sign for our business to the installation, we couldn’t have been more pleased. Thank you for your professionalism!” This was a relative- ly simple sign for us, but providing the same great service on all projects big and small is something we take pride in. That pride was evident in the resulting sign and Elaine’s kind words in her five-star review!

The TLC Christmas party in January marked the end of the holiday season, with an excellent dinner at

the Lox Club followed by fun and games at Badger Sports Park. Congrats to those that were able to con-

quer the Escape Room, and those that didn’t had a fun story to share! As we near the end of February

in Wisconsin, it starts to feel like the warmer weather will never get here, but Major and Minor League

Baseball pitchers and catchers have already reported to training camps, and spring will be here

before we know it. With our busiest time of year rapidly approaching, it is important for us to take

time to highlight some of our accomplishments, recognize what made these projects successful,

and discuss how we can continue to grow and improve.

loved the design and the results of the finished wrap, so he came back to us with his design needs for

trade show displays and electronic billboard ads. He was so happy with our work that he took the time

to write a very positive five-star review on our Facebook page: “The team at TLC is great to work with. From design to implementation. I had

Sign, Electronic Message Centers We recently installed new EMCs at DQ’s Oneida and Richmond Street locations, which

included additonal support structure at Richmond Street to comply with minimum set-

back requirements and a new pylon structure at Oneida Street due to the planned road

costruction. We were able to make the old signs new again by keeping the iconic rotating

Upcoming Projects:Wisconsin Timber Rattlers: Scoreboard DisplayIt may only be February, but the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers have big news

for their fast-approaching season. The Midwest League affiliate of the Mil-

waukee Brewers will install a new video board to be ready for the Timber

Rattlers home opener on Saturday, April 7.

The new video board is an Outdoor Daktronics LED Video Display, to be

installed by TLC Sign, with a screen size measuring 26.5’ high by 55’ wide.

By comparison, the video board that is being replaced has a screen size of

16’ high by 35’ wide.

“Our goal each season is to upgrade the overall fan experience and this new video display will surely provide a wow factor to all in attendance,”

said Wisconsin Timber Rattlers president Rob Zerjav. “The new video board will be roughly three times larger in screen size than our previous

board and, in conjunction with upgrading all cameras to HD, will allow for a crisper picture and greater functionality.”

Additionally, there will be a new video display on Casaloma Drive to greet fans as they enter the parking lot as well as a new video display

above the ticket windows. The display on Casaloma Drive will measure 4’ high by 9.5’ wide. The display above the ticket windows will be 14”

high by 19’ wide. Play ball!

Riiser Energy: BP Image Updates TLC continues to be a leader among sign companies serving the petroleum industry, and we have had a

great relationship for many years with Riiser Energy. This spring we have another six stations lined up for

BP image updates: Tripoli, Rudolph, Mountain, Wittenberg, Stewart Avenue and 20th Avenue in Wausau.

Each station will get new 3D image and helios button on canopies, new image on pump doors, valances,

flag signs, and BP helios on pylon signs.

Clean, Safe, and Efficient:CleanColor Coding TLC’s color coding system has helped keep our shops and trucks clean. We will be spending more time with color coding

as our fleet expands and new tools are added. Remember that if you see a tool or other item that does not have a color yet, check with your

supervisor to find out what color it should be and where it goes.

SafeNoise Exposure Did you know that most cases of hearing loss are not caused by a single, very loud noise like an explosion? In fact, most

work-related hearing loss happens gradually. Training, knowing where the hazards are, and using proper PPE can help reduce or eliminate risks

to hearing loss. As with all of the safety topics we discuss, it is important that you take an active role in your own protection: follow company

policies, wear PPE, maintain equipment, and talk with your supervisor if you have questions or concerns.

EfficientSOPs Standard Operating Procedures, “SOPs” will be something you continue to hear a lot about at TLC in 2018 and beyond. Our newest

SOP, Service Department Photo/Doc Filing, has been tested and was implemented in February. This SOP was designed to help simplify the

electronic filing process for our Service Techs, save them time, and make the files instantly accessible for sales and design teams once they

are uploaded. So far it has been successful in streamlining the process and saving time, look for more SOPs to be rolled out in 2018 as we

continue to develop them!

Announcements:

World Sign Association Educational Seminar In early February, Tim and Sharon attended the WSA Educational Seminar in Phoenix, Arizona. At the seminar, speaker Mel Klieman discussed

finding, recruiting, and retaining the right employees. Other topics included winning programs for employee recruitment and training, and round-

table discussions for takeaways and best practices. As always, it was valuable for networking and information sharing. TLC gained insight to the

onboarding process and we will look to implement improvements to our onboarding process in 2018.

Quote of the Quarter:“The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may

have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t

play together, the club won’t be worth a dime.” — Babe Ruth

A successful business is built on the employees who work for it. Every good owner, in the

sign business or otherwise, knows that a happy workplace makes for better teamwork,

which naturally will translate into improved sales. Growing the top line requires more than

focusing on sales, marketing, and customer service. Overlooking or avoiding our internal setting can result in disillusionment and, what’s more,

poor morale. We strive for a work environment that is engaging, challenging, and efficient, not to mention, pleasing to the eye. This is something

that will reflect in success outside of the office, in our sales, which helps us all as a company.

Mission Statement:Our mission at TLC Sign is to strive for excellence in every aptitude and continue our tradition

of safety, honesty, and creativity to our customers, employees and community.
