1974 John King, New York native, decides to start J.Kings to better serve local restaurants and delicatessens. 1989 J.Kings establishes its Westbrook Farms Produce division which includes produce from Long Island Farms. 1990 J.Kings Culinary Team created to help local restaurants, markets, delicatessens, diners and cafes grow. 1997 Locally roasted Mountain Blend Coffee, J.Kings’ coffee brand is born in Astoria, NY. 2003 Kitchen Cuts, J.Kings’ locally fresh cut produce division, is born. 2005 J.Kings kicks off it’s its’s “buy local” initiative. 2009 WB Stockyard, J.Kings’ meat label, opens its USDA Meat Cutting Facility to offer local food businesses locally cut and ground meats. 2009 Restaurant Row Kitchens brand which offers fresh prepared food made by local chefs is born. 2009 J.Kings Local Farmers’ Market featuring fresh New York, Long Island and New Jersey produce opens it’s doors. 2009 J.Kings begins delivering local produce to local supermarkets. 2012 Grapes & Greens and Polar Crossing, J.Kings agricultural enterprise terminal and storage facility are established to help local farmers, wine makers and businesses store and distribute to a wider market open their doors. 2014 Grapes & Greens, a division of J.Kings, begins distribution of local craft beers and wines. J.Kings turned 40 and is proud to be “Over the Hill”! Very few family run businesses can say that they’ve made it this long.
