PARISH EVENTS & NEWS – THIS WEEK

LETTER FROM FR. TOM: Summer is a wonderful time to

be outside. As your pastor, I enjoy giving hints and

suggestions about how to live the spiritual life. I think it is

good to actively live our life in a way in which we recognize

that God is present. Today, I would encourage all of you to

spend some time outdoors. You may ask: What does this

have to do with our spiritual life? The answer is simple:

We can experience God in the wonders of creation.

God created the world. As we all know, great art

reveals something about the artist. So, exploring God’s

creation will help us to know the creator. Not only was the

world created by God, but it was re-created in the order of

grace by the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This

means that our world is enchanted. It is a world filled with

the Holy Spirit working within creation. We know that the

supernatural reality of angels is all around us and that the

saints are here to help us. As Catholics, we are never

alone.

I would encourage you to go hiking, canoeing, or

camping with your friends and family. Get in a boat and go

fishing or go hunting in the fall. Explore the backyard with

your small children looking for different plants, flowers, and

bugs. Give your children positive experiences of nature

and talk about it. Spend time looking for constellations,

staring at the vastness of space or finding shapes in the

clouds.

When we live our spiritual life, it should not happen only

in Church or kneeling by our bed. We should recognize

that God is always with us, and that all we need to do is

recognize that he is here. I hope that you will all take some

time to enjoy the great outdoors. I hope to hear some of

your stories. Tell me after Mass.

Peace, Fr. Tom Pomeroy

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Faith Formation is asking

our fellow parishioners to prayerfully consider joining our

Catechist Team for the 2020-2021 school year. We are

looking for catechists for grades 1 and 6 in Reedsville and

grades 1, 3, 4, and 7 in Brillion. We are also looking for

aides to assist the catechists for any grade level. Free

tuition is offered to parents who are catechists who have

children in the program. Call or text Briana (920-268-9992)

or Monika (920-756-2048) if you’d like to learn more.
