Dear Parishioners, A widespread emergency, especially announced by local (1610 AM on your radio dial for Union Beach) and state authorities restricting or prohibiting the movement of private nonessential vehicles as during a hurricane with the danger of flooded streets and homes as well

as downed power lines and trees that was the case for both Union Beach Borough and Hazlet Township last weekend until mid-afternoon and early evening on Sunday the 28th, is a reason why people should not attempt to participate at Mass or other church services and why a decision to cancel them is made, even on Sundays. This also applies to blizzards such as the one that was so hazardous to traveling on a particular weekend this February last. As some of us still recover from last week's Hurricane Irene, let us both physically support and spiritually pray for those who still suffer the aftereffects of this recent natural disaster. Fr. Mark
