Let us rise in early morning,
And instead of ointments bring
Hymns of praise to our Master,
And His Resurrection sing;
We shall see the Sun of Justice
Risen with healing in His wing.
Thy unbounded loving-kindness,
They that groaned in Hades chain,
Prisoners, from afar beholding,
Hasten to the light again,
And to that eternal Pascha
Wove the dance and raised the strain.
Go ye forth, His Saints, to meet Him!
Go with lamps in every hand!
From the sepulcher He riseth;
Ready for the Bridegroom stand;
And the Pascha of salvation
Hail, with His triumphant band.
St. John Damascene (676-754)
Jesus Christ Is Risen! Today is the biggest
feast of the year, dwarfing Christmas and everything else in the whole of human history. At Christmas we celebrate that Christ came in to the world, today we celebrate that He
saved the world from itself. The Risen Savior put an end to death. Jesus rose up from
the grave and so have we all. Life is worth living and Jesus made it last forever.
Dare to believe it!
Fr. Hugh, OP

Easter Morning Prayer
As the world sings triumphant cries to heaven over death that You conquered, help us Lord, tomorrow as well, when the dresses are put away and the candy is all eaten and
on with life we go, let us not forget.
The celebration of your Resurrection over death is a celebration of life that should continue well beyond the
sunrise service and the music, rehearsed for days prior; it is beyond the sign of spring beyond the lily, beyond the
lambs grazing in open fields.
Resurrection is a daily celebration over fear; man’s greatest and most powerful enemy. Fear of tomorrow, fear of our yesterdays, fear of what shall become of our
young, our old, and our unborn. Resurrection is replacing fear with physical action.
This alone, the most touching and profound of Your sings that fear is dead and belief in You brings, not just hope but
life.
What a better living parable could You have brought? All fear death. All. Even in the garden You took on our fear if
for a few moments, it was as real as our fears can be. You know then that this single enemy must be destroyed.
And, You sacrificed Your life, leaving those who had been comforted and follower; You left them behind, to conquer
fear.
I shall cling to this now, and the tomorrows given me.
Peace and Thanksgiving lifted unto You.
Amen.
May we all fee the hope and life of the Resurrection, Maria Lamorgese, Director

The Gospel Acclamation is from the Mass of A Joyful Heart by Steve Angrisano. Our Easter season Mass setting is Mass of Plenty by Rob Glover. EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD
April 16, 2017
First Reading: Acts 10:34a, 37‑43 In this passage, Peter testifies that he and his followers saw the miracles performed by Christ, witnessed His death, and believe in His resurrection. Now they will proclaim to all that Christ is the Son of God. Second Reading: Colossians 3:1‑4 Paul tells the Colossians that they will appear with Christ in glory. They should be mindful of things above rather than things on earth. Gospel: John 20:1‑9 In vivid detail, John tells us that when Mary Magdalene visited Christ’s tomb, the tomb was empty. She told the apostles, who ran to the tomb, and saw the “wrappings” on the ground. The disciple who entered first “saw and believed.”
