Why do contours have to be measured?

Defined geometric properties

Our measuring systems of the HOMMELWAVELINE family are split into MICRO-SYSTEM for measurement of roughnessand waviness (microstructures) andMACROSYSTEM for the evaluation ofcontours (macrostructures). Both cate-gories will be treated separately as theyhave different causes and often influencethe functionality of the part in anotherway.

The shape of a part is based on the macro-structure (form, position, dimension) andthe microstructure (roughness and wavi-ness) of the reference surface. Every partwill show a certain deviation of the de-sired, geometrically ideal shape, causedby the machining tool.

Our systems offer a wide range of differ-ent parameters, the representativity ofwhich differs significantly. The surfaceparameters to be measured have to beselected according to the criteria thathave to be differentiated from eachother.

The contour measurement basically entailsdetermining the angles, radii, distancesand co-ordinates as well as the computer-controlled nominal-actual comparisonwith measured or CAD-based profiledata.

The contour measuring systems HOMMEL WAVELINE MACROSYSTEMare designed in modules and can beeasily combined for your measuringtasks.

For more information on the roughnessmeasuring systems HOMMEL WAVELINEMICROSYSTEM please refer to therespective brochure.

Simple evaluation of the measuring tasks

TURBO CONTOUR

Point to point distance measurement

Point to point distances in X and Z co-ordinates are determined by help elements such as regression lines, pointsof intersection, radii centres or profilepoints. The dimensioning can be positionedquickly and easily.

Page 9: HOMMEL WAVELINE MACROSYSTEM – Modular contour measuring ...pgikorea.kr/board/data/product/48/Hommel_T8000C.pdf · measuring systems for demanding applications ... have to be differentiated

Angle measurement

Line elements are set on the profilewhich may consist of one or more segments for angle evaluation. For angle dimensioning, select the set line elements and position the dimen-sioning lines with the mouse.

Radius measurement

Radii are determined by one or more segments. Deviation from the ideal radius can be represented graphically as line form deviation.

10

TURBO CONTOUR is convincing with a large number of functions

TURBO CONTOUR

qs-STAT® interface

Calculated characteristics in TURBO CONTOUR can be exported via the certified qs-STAT® interface in a specialdata format and further evaluated. qs-STAT® is a widely used statistics package for process data analysis.

DXF conversion with nominal-actual profile comparison

This function enables the nominal-actualcomparison of a recorded profile with amaster profile. The master profile is createdfrom a measured profile or a DXF file. The conversion takes place fully automati-cally when reading in the DXF file. Ad-justable tolerance limits reveal exceedingof tolerances immediately.

Automatic measuring runs: CNC-option

The fully automatic CNC measuring run requires far less time than a manual measuring sequence and supplies operator-independent, reproducible results. Theautomatic run leaves the operator free toperform other tasks.

Gothic arcs

The evaluation of Gothic arcs requires measuring components of the highestprecision. Radii centres and contact pointsof the ball bearing race are determinedautomatically by the ball radius.

Ball fit

The pitch or gradient of threads and rack teeth are evaluated with the ball measure. A ball with a user specifiedradius is fitted automatically in order todetermine the pitch and the gradient of the marked profile.

The measuring results are shown graph-ically and numerically in the clear list ofcharacteristics. The absolute value of the excess is displayed in red when thetolerance band is exceeded.
