Welcome to Thailand Hong Kong FactsClimate Hong Kong has a subtropical climate featuring cool, relatively dry winters and hot, humid summers. The best time to visit Hong Kong is from late September to December, where temperatures remain moderate. From March to May, the weather is warm and humid with fog and drizzle also permitting. The rainy season is from June to August and the weather is usually hot and humid.

Passport and VisasEach person must carry a passport with at least 6 months validity beyond their stay in Hong Kong. Australian passport holders do not require a visa for prior to arrival in Hong Kong for visits up to three months. Asia Escape Holidays highly recommends checking all visa requirements with the appropriate embassies or consulates before making travel arrangements. Alternatively, please ask your travel agent for more information.

LanguageThe national languages are English and Chinese (mainly Cantonese).

Drinking WaterIt is safe to drink water directly from the tap in Hong Kong. However mineral water can be easily obtained from super markets, convenience stores and within hotels.

TransportPublic transport in Hong Kong is efficient, easy to use and moderately priced. The major form of public transportation is the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) train network. It serves 53 stations and runs every 2 to 12 minutes from 6 am to just after midnight. Hong Kong’s cross-harbour ferries are faster and are relatively cheaper than the MTR and local buses.

CurrencyThe local of currency in Hong Kong is the Hong Kong Dollar. Money can be changed at licensed currency exchanges, banks and hotels. Major credit cards, travellers cheques are widely accepted, ATMs are also widely available in Hong Kong. Some form of identification will be required when cashing in traveller’s cheques.

Holiday/Special DaysThere are a number of special days/holidays in Hong Kong including Chinese New Year and the annual Dragon Boat Festival. Most Chinese holidays are determined by the lunar calendar, which changes every year, while national and Christian religious holidays remain the same each year. Airlines, hotels and tour operators may impose their own cancellation fees. These details will be advised to you by your travel agent in the event of a booking cancellation. No refunds or amendments can be made once travel has begun. First amendments made prior to payment in full will be free of charge. Any further amendments may incur a fee of $40 per change. Amendments after documents have been issued may not be possible or may be subject to fees imposed by airlines, hotels and other suppliers plus an amendment fee imposed by Asia Escape Holidays. Your travel agent will advise of any applicable fees. Flights and passenger details may not be changed once ticketed. Refunds for unused accommodation tours or services may or may not be refunded by Asia Escape Holidays. Travel agents may impose their own fees in addition to those of Asia Escape Holidays.

What’s not included in the price: Passport and visa fees, insurance, phone calls, beverages and meals not detailed in your itinerary, tips, excess baggage and all other items of a personal nature.

Travel Insurance: Asia Escape Holidays highly recommends travel insurance for all travellers to Asia. Please seek advice from your Travel Agent regarding the applicable insurance cover.

Passports, Visa and Vaccination: Each person must have a current passport with at least 6 months validity beyond their stay in Asia. It is the responsibility of all passengers to ensure they have the applicable visa, passport, health documentation by checking with the applicable embassies or consulates.

Travel Advisories: Issued by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade are available from your Travel Agent or by visiting www.smartraveller.gov.auThese advisories should be checked regularly prior to your departure.

Baggage: Your baggage allowance is governed by relevant airline/cruise company conditions. Your Travel Agent will provide information relevant to your arrangements.

Hotel Descriptions and Locations: Descriptions featured are based on current international hotels guides and contractual agreements provided by the hotels and suppliers. Any facilities shown as included are subject to change at any time. Every effort is made to ensure the information provided is correct.

Maps are not to scale and are provided as a guide to locations only. Hotel room photographs may not be exact to the actual room occupied.

Rooming: Prices quoted in this brochure are based on twin occupancy. Single room may be requested however a supplement will be charged. Any special requests should be made at the time of booking however any such requests are not guaranteed and are subject to availability at the time of check-in at the hotel.

Child Ages: The age specifications for children will vary based on seasonality and airline/hotel policies. Please check with our reservations staff at the time of booking.

Variations: If there are at any time circumstances beyond our control that require us to make changes to your travel arrangements, we reserve the right to cancel, reschedule departures and itineraries. Where it is necessary to change a hotel Asia Escape Holidays reserves the right to substitute accommodation of at least a similar standard to that booked.

Responsibility: Asia Escape Holidays acts as an agent only and accepts no responsibility for services provided by the airline, hotel or tour operator or any other service provider. By acceptance of vouchers and documents, the passenger agrees that Asia Escape Holidays is in no way responsible or liable for loss, injury, damage to person, property or otherwise in connection with any and all transportation, accommodation and/or services resulting directly or indirectly from Acts of God, dangers incident to air, sea, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of governments or other authorities de jure or de facto, wars – whether declared or not, acts of terrorism, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, epidemics, medical or customs regulations, delays or changes in itinerary/schedules for any loss or damage resulting from improper or insufficient passports, visas or other documents or from any other causes beyond the control of Asia Escape Holidays. When making a booking with Asia Escape Holidays, it is deemed that you have read, understood and accepted the conditions as set out herein. Asia Escape Holidays makes no representation as to the safety, conditions or other issues that may exist at any destination. International travel advice can be obtained from various sources, including local government, local consular offices and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Consumer claims: Any claims should be lodged in writing to your travel agent with supporting documentation within 14 days of return to Australia.

Additional Conditions: The prices quoted by Asia Escape Holidays are subject to change without notice in the event of unforeseen circumstances such as fluctuation in exchange rates, increases in land, cruise and airfare costs. Itineraries are subject to alteration if airlines schedules are amended or other conditions require it.
