NEW! CIAP Online Education Modules 2 & 3 CIAP eLearning Modules 2 & 3: Locating Evidence and Searching
for Evidence are now available on the CIAP Education page.
These education modules provide the essential foundation skills to
support staff develop the expertise and knowledge they need to
use the best available evidence in practice.
Locating Evidence is designed for the novice database searcher. This introductory module covers essentials such as selecting the most appropriate database and building a search strategy. Searching for Evidence is designed for database searchers who wish to refine their searching skills. The module features video clips and online tutorials that illustrate the use of both Basic and Advanced Search modes on the Ovid databases.
Focus on... PAEDIATRICS From March 2013 CIAP NEWS CIAP contains a large range of books and journals related to paediatric topics. To access click on either Online Books or Online Journals from the left menu on the CIAP Homepage. Some of the titles included are: Keane: Nadas’ Pediatric Cardiology ‐ Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics ‐ Principles & Practice of Pediatric Infectious Diseases ‐ Wong’s Clinical Manual of Pediatric Nursing. There are also a number of resources for clinical conditions related to Paediatrics: PEMSoft ‐ an Australian clinical assessment tool providing information for acute & chronic illness. BMJ Best Practice ‐ provides information for a range of diseases and conditions. Click on the tab “Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine” under “show conditions” to view 160 different paediatric conditions. BNF for Children ‐ provides information related to the administration of medicines to children. Cochrane Library ‐ includes the Database of Systematic Reviews, where Child Health is the largest topic covered with over 1500 paediatric systematic reviews.
