From your missionary

Happy New Year!!

I am very excited aboutwhat this year holds forour Association. I amalways thankful for newbeginnings, and as Godhas granted us anothernew year I am praying thatwe will take everyopportunity to accomplishHis plan of fulfilling theGreat Commission. I have

thought many times as I anticipated the new year thatthis could be the last year we have to reach peoplewith the Gospel. I believe the return of Christ is verysoon, and it is my personal ambition to win as manypeople to Christ as I can. I trust you will be personallycommitted to winning people to Christ, but I am alsopraying that our Association of churches will committo reaching more people to Christ than last year.

We are going to have an opportunity for our churchesto come together on January 31 at First Baptistst

Church Cordele to rally together to hear from God andask God to put a fresh fire in us to win souls to Christ.I am encouraging every church to send members tothis inspirational service as we will hear messages insong by Erica Branch and a message from God’s wordby Evangelist Terry Chupp. Let us begin to pray forthis service and then make every effort to attend thisspecial evening to come before God and ask Him torenew in us a passion for those who are lost.

On that following Saturday morning we will have aSoul-Winning seminar led by Terry Chupp at theAssociational office at 9:00 a.m. This will be a verybeneficial seminar that every church needs to takeadvantage of. The seminar will only be for two hours, and it will be the best two hours you can spend on aSaturday morning.

On April 27 we will be having an opportunity toth

come together as churches to reach people with theGospel as we will have a two hour event at theWatermelon Speedway. This event will involve manythings such as a car show, a play area for the children,

a testimony from a sports figure, and Evangelist BillSaye will share his testimony and present the Gospel.More details about this event will be forthcoming. Weare asking that each church begin to pray now for thisevent. We will also need every church to helpfinancially as well as being personally involved whenthe event occurs. I believe this event has the potentialof reaching many people with the Gospel!!

I pray that we will have a great year together as weunite and reach not only our communities with theGospel but other places that we will be sendingmission teams. The Great Commission should never betreated as a suggestion but as a great privilege ofcarrying out the task God has called us too. May Goduse us in a mighty way to reach thousands of peoplewith the good news of Jesus Christ!

Pressing On Toward the Goal!Bro. Gary

Disaster Relief is a ministry-based approach toimpacting people for the Kingdom of God. The mottoServing Christ in Crisis has two implications:

(1) We serve Christ to those persons who are victimsof disaster. (2) When we minister to persons in need,we are serving Christ (Matthew 25:40)

The goal of Disaster Relief is to provide some measureof normalcy for the victims of a disaster event andfocuses on five areas of ministry: chaplaincy, childcare, clean-up and recovery, communications andfeeding.

Everyone who wants to be involved in this ministrymust undergo Phase 1 training which includes anintroduction to the ministry as well as hands-ontraining in one of the five ministry areas.

The First Baptist Church in Cairo will host thistraining on February 9 from 9am to 4pm. Cost is $40if received by February 1; $50 thereafter. The churchis located at 505 North Broad Street. Visitwww.gabaptist.org for a registration form andschedule.

The Southern Baptist Call to Prayer during January “isa pivotal opportunity as churches cast a vision forministry in 2013...[and] center [their] thoughts andprayers on the lost in our communities and around theworld” said SBC President Fred Luter.

This effort will help our congregations focus onrelationships and seek ways to engage those withoutChrist. Emphases include:

gMy Family and Friends. Select a friend or familymember and pray they would come to faith in Christ.

gMy Nation. Select a Send North America city andpray for the church planting efforts in that area.www.namb.net/cities

gMy World. Select an unreach people group andpray that the Gospel wiould be advanced among thesepeople. www.imb.org/prayerthreads
