How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and

evaluation stages?

New Media Technologies

Whilst undertaking my A2 Media Studies practical project, I used a numerous amount of new media technologies such as Final Cut Pro X, YouTube and Adobe Photoshop. These technologies significantly helped me in my studies and allowed me to develop and adapt my magazine front cover, horror poster and horror trailer further.

Whilst undertaking my A2 Media Studies practical project, I was able to greatly develop on the techniques that I had previously learned in AS where I created an opening to a thriller film, I also used a different website to the one I am using now Blogger to record information about my horror production.In my AS Media Studies practical project I used Blogger to record and update my progression with my thriller opening however in A2 I used the advanced up to date website which enhanced advanced media technologies which is called Weebly, which I personally think is much better than Blogger as the range of features is more widespread.

Research and Planning

Whilst undertaking research and planning for my A2 practical project, the use of new media technologies greatly benefited my ability to produce tasks.For example when in the research and planning stages commenced of my practical project I used Prezi an online presentation software which is more advanced than power point and has better facilities and functions which helped significantly.

• Furthermore in research and planning, I also used new media technologies such as YouTube. YouTube was greatly beneficial when undertaking the research and planning section for my A2 Media Studies coursework as it allowed me to research previous film trailers. This again allowed me to learn a significant amount by viewing horror trailers. Also YouTube allowed me to research the film trailers that I analysed in my Prezi presentation.

Construction

When undertaking the construction stages of my practical project, new media technologies were significantly efficient in aiding me to create my horror trailer, magazine front cover and horror poster.

When I was creating my horror trailer, new media technologies such as YouTube, editing software and cameras significantly helped me and the way I was able to create my horror trailer sticking to what my target audience wanted.

When editing my horror trailer, I used the software Final Cut Pro X on Mac’s it was very beneficial as it allowed me to edit my horror trailer plus add in music, sound effects and special effects such as: Colour 3 Way Corrector. New media technologies such as editing software enabled me to edit my horror trailer to make it have more of an impact with my target audience and therefore at the end they were all pleased with what I produced.

When filming my horror trailer, new media technologies such as cameras were extremely useful as it allowed me to film in my house and outside it, it was lightweight therefore I could easily move around with it than me having to use a heavy weighted camera plus it was HD and was easy to handle.

YouTube was definitely beneficial before, during and after the making and production of my horror trailer. I was able to gain inspiration from different horror trailers even those that were hybrid genres so I had other dimensions shown and I could see how they worked. I was also able to upload my own horror trailer so that it could be accessed from the Weebly website page.

When creating my magazine front cover and horror poster, new media technologies such as cameras and Adobe Photoshop allowed me to create and edit both items.

For example, when I created my horror magazine, I used Adobe Photoshop CS6 to position the headings and sub heading plus important information across the page.

In my horror poster for my theatrical poster, I used a camera to take a photo of the demon – Insanity. After this had been taken I transferred it Adobe Photoshop CS6 where I added the necessary text and changed the composition of the image to make it appear darker.

EvaluationWhen undertaking the evaluation stage of my practical project, I made sure I used different combinations of new media technologies such as: Prezi, YouTube, Xtranormal , SlideShare and GoAnimate to answer the four evaluations questions.

I used new media technologies such as Prezi, SlideShare, Xtranormal and GoAnimate to upload presentations to my blog site on Weebly. These websites allowed me to answer the evaluation questions with great depth as I was able to significantly elaborate on key points with the use of images, embedded videos and created animation slides/video footage.

Plus within the construction stage of my practical project, I used the internet efficiently so I could copy the web address of created presentations from Prezi, Xtranormal, SlideShare and GoAnimate and use the custom http choice to add the web address so it would appear on my Blog Page without having to open up another internet page and searching the address to go to the actual website.

I believe that using new media technologies in my A2 practical project was significantly beneficial as it allowed me to use new and advanced innovative methods of showing, distributing and displaying information. I was also able to use many of the new media technologies such as YouTube, Prezzi SlideShare, Xtranormal and GoAnimate to present the content that I created in a professional by presenting it on my blog through Weebly .

Ultimately, I believe that new media technologies have allowed me to create a fantastic end product through the use of certain websites such as: Prezzi, SlideShare, Xtranormal, GoAnimate and Weebly and software's such as Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Photoshop CS6 which has allowed me to create a final product which most definitely wouldn’t be achieved if these new media technologies were not accessible.
