How I Fouled-up Self-Publishing My New Book Series
(Yes, I know - Fouled up isn't the same as Fowl, which isn't a cute chickie...)
Setting up self-serving links in your ebook files.
● Set up a “bibliography” for the whole series rather than just a single landing-page link in back.
● Should have all been bit.ly links – for analytics.● Fortunately, these are all trade paperbacks, so
links don't matter.
Publishing trade paperbacks first.
● Ebooks will tell you what the demand actually is for any market.
● This is fine-tuning, since you've already done your market research.
● The plus to paperbacks is that you can hold them, dog-ear them, use real bookmarks.
● Amazon can't/won't reject them like your Kindle version.
Getting Social Signal Syndication Set First
● IFTTT (if this, then that – ifttt.com) isn't set up, or verified. IFTTT can distribute your content for each book (video, audio, PDF, blog post, book cover images) to over 14 other places auto-magically.
● Had to pull the existing landing pages (convert back to draft-mode).
● At least I found it before I missed this chance.
A Central (Membership) Site Instead of Another Standalone Blog.
● Looking forward to investing Synnd coins on a central site, rather than a lot of small ones.
● Main content will be posted to a Rainmaker Membership site first, then syndicated to Blogger-hosted site.
● Standalone site will become a single place to get all this data – and will link back to (and opt-in for) the central Membership site.
