How to Create an Origami Flower Ball
1. Gather with glue, scissors and paper. If you have neat squared paper, great, go to step 4. If not follow
step two and three
2. Line up the short edge of the rectangle neatly along the bottom long edge to make a perfect triangle.
Then cut off the excess rectangle. You now have a perfect square
3. Fold the square in half into a triangle. Fold the two corners to the apex so the long edge of the
triangle lines down the centre and you make a square
4. Pick up the top layer of paper on each side and fold it down so the central edge lies along the edge of
the square. Repeat on the other side to make two triangular pockets
5. Place your fingers inside the pockets you have just made and flatten down into neat kite shapes. Fold
down the small top triangles on the top of the kites
6. Fold the side sections in half to make back into a square. Place glue on the top surface of the folded
side sections and stick together
7. When dry, gently press the cone shape open to form a completed petal
8. Repeat this process five times
9. Run glue down the inside edge of a petal and stick to another. Continue this until all five petals are
stuck together to form a complete flower
10. You will need to make 12 flowers in total (40 sheets of paper) and when you have made all 12 begin
to build them into a ball. Tips: make two hemispherical halves and then stick these together, if the
flowers do not fit together perfectly just glue the tips of the petals together and add a dab of glue at
the forming centre when necessary to allow for flexibility. It is also nice to run a length of twine or
ribbon down the middle of one half before you stick together so that the completed flower ball can
be hung
