You are going to be considered for a Final Warning because you have admittedto a criminal offence. Final warnings are delivered by a Police Officer at theYOT (Youth Offending Team).

The Police Officer will write to you with a date for you and your parent or carer to attend the Final Warning assessment.

Until you attend the assessment and receive a Final Warning you must keep any bail dates you have been given at the police station.

If you receive a Final Warning, a YOT Officer will do an assessment and draw up a short programme of up to three months with you.

The sessions will look at why you got into trouble and how it affected other people. They will aim to prevent you from getting into trouble again.

Being involved with the programme is up to you, but if you don’t, and you get into trouble again, the court will be told that you weren’t willing to work with us.

If you complete your Final Warning programme successfully you will receive a certificate.

Final Warning programmes:

Work on Offending: Brief session of offence and victim focused work will be carried out at the YOT office. This is to ensure that the young person fully understands the purpose of the Final Warning.

Reparation: May involve the offender meeting his/her victim in person to make a verbal apology. Alternatively, the young person may be required to write a letter of apology and/or take part in several hours of practical activity.
