How to install LaTex

Requires a Compiler and an Editor to use

Compiler & Editor

MiKTeX

◦ An up-to-date complier of LaTeX

◦ Download: https://miktex.org/download

TeXstudio

◦ An integrated editor for creating LaTeX documents

◦ Download: https://www.texstudio.org

Note that you must install MiKTeX first

Step 1.

◦ Run the installer and click Next

Step 2.

◦ Set up the installation scope and click Next

Step 3.

◦ Accept or specify the installation directory

Step 4.

◦ Be sure your settings are set as below

Step 5.

◦ Click Start after reviewing the settings

Step 6.

◦ Finish the installation as the progress bar completes

Step 1.

◦ Run the installer

TeXstudio

Step 2.

◦ Open “cs271-sample.tex” file

TeXstudio

Step 3.

◦ Press “F5” to compile and click Install until every

package installation has completed

TeXstudio

Step 4.

◦ You are done when you see the view of your

document with no compiling errors

Expectation towards students

You need to add “packages” as you will want to

use more functions in LaTeX

Highly recommended to google for more

resources about syntax and package

You will submit a pdf file that is created as you

compile your tex file
