The Seventh-day Adventist Church is currently engaged in a massive evangelistic outreach to impact

six hundred and fifty of the world’s major cities.

Page 14: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

This initiative began one year ago with a comprehensive evangelistic approach in four hundred locations in New York City which resulted in thousands of church

members equipped to reach their friends and neighbors for Christ

and 5,295 baptisms.

“All are now deciding their eternal destiny. Men need to be aroused to realize the solemnity of the time,

the nearness of the day when human probation shall be ended. Decided

efforts should be made to bring the message for this time prominently before the people. The third angel is

to go forth with great power.” (Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 16.)

ELLEN WHITE ADDS THESE THOUGHT PROVOKING WORDS;

Page 16: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

Words of Jesus 2000 years Ago

Jesus statement, “…look at the fields for they are

already white for harvest” is as relevant

today as it was two thousand years ago.

(John 4:35)

“Evangelistic work, opening the Scriptures to others, warning

men and women of what is coming upon the world, is to occupy more and still more of the time of God’s servants.”(Review and Herald, Aug. 2, 1906.)

Revelation. We’ve seen Him as the Son of Man and the Head of the Church. We’ve worshiped him as the Lamb who was slain. In Revelation 14, he appears as

the LORD OF THE HARVEST.

Lord of the Harvest

The Harvest of the Earth –Revelation 14:15-16

15-And another angel came out of the temple, crying out with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, "Put in your sickle and reap, for the hour to reap has come, because the harvest of the earth is ripe." 16-Then He (Jesus Christ) who sat on the cloud swung His sickle over the earth, and the earth was reaped.

Page 35: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

LABORERS NEEDED

But who would lead them to

the Savior?

Page 36: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

LABORERS NEEDED

Laborers (both pastors and laymen/laywomen) are needed

to harvest the precious seed.

“Those who follow Jesus will be laborers together with God.”

THE REVIEW AND HERALD, October 30, 1894Missionary Enterprise the Object of Christ’s Church

Page 38: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

“Our churches are languishing for the want of whole-hearted, self-denying workers. Our smaller churches are losing their vitality because their members do not seek to work for those around them. God can work with few as well as with many, but personal responsibility does not seem to be comprehended as it should be by the members of our churches. Can God bless the church that is indolent and selfish?”

EGW (The Review and Herald, June 16, 1891)

Page 39: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

“The members of the church of Christ are to be faithful workers in the great harvest-field. They are to be diligently working and earnestly praying, making progress, and diffusing light amid the moral darkness of the world;”

The Holy Spirit at Work in the Life of the Witness

Empowers the Witness (Acts 1:8)

-With authority (Mathew 28:18-20)

-With boldness (Acts 4:30-31)

Imparts wisdom to the Witness (Luke 12:12)- Gifts of knowledge- Gifts of

understanding- Gifts counsel

Page 44: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and

ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria,

and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

BEING GUIDED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

(John 14:26)

Page 47: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

Why does God want to use men and women to spread the Gospel?

Isn’t the Holy Spirit able to do that by Himself?

Could the angels do that better than us?

Page 48: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

“The testimony of humble repented sinners—who are

guided by the power of the Holy Spirit—may persuade other

sinners like no angel could do.”

Right Answer

Page 49: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

Not everyone is called to mass evangelism.

For example, the stories of Andrew, Philip and the Samaritan woman show the power of simple and passionate testimonies.

We are called to do so.

BEING GUIDED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

WAITING FOR THE RIGHT TIME

“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” (Luke 24:49)

Page 51: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

“We cannot use the Holy Spirit; the Spirit is to use us… Only to those who wait humbly upon God, who watch for His guidance and grace, is the Spirit given”

(EGW, God’s Amazing Grace, July 23)

Page 52: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

laborers into his harvest.”Matthew 9:38

RECEIVING AUTHORITY

“So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

(John 20:21-23)

Page 55: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

As the Father commissioned Jesus, so Christ commissions His disciples.

Through the Spirit, the Father invested Christ with divine power. Through the

Spirit, Jesus likewise invests His disciples with divine power commensurate with their earthly assignments. Every necessary

skill, talent, capability, and strength has been supplied.

Page 56: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

Jesus delegated

His authority to

His disciples. We must

also delegate it to others.

No one can do God’s work by himself.

Page 57: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

Integrated Evangelsim Lifestyle is all about:SEEKING THE LOST

He wants us to become finders of the lost. He wants us to love and to reach

the lost, regardless of the kind of people they are or the kind of lives

they live.

Page 58: HOW TO KEEP THE MISSION ALIVE: REAPING GOD'S HARVEST05

All the resources of heaven are at the

command of those who are seeking to save the

lost. Angels will help you to reach the most

careless and the most hardened.
