How to Make a Display Box
Step 1: Find a box that is
an appropriate size for a
display box. Refer to the
fair book rules for size
requirements.
Step 2: Cut the sides of the
box so they are diagonal
and cut off extra flaps. You
may need an adult to help
with this step.
Step 3: Cut a section of
paper that will cover the
back of the box. Lay the
box down and lightly spray
the back with craft glue.
Step 4: Allow the glue to
dry for a minute then attach
the paper. You can remove
and reapply paper as
needed to make it smooth.
Cut the extra paper so you
can fold it around the rest
of the box.
Step 5: Using the spray
glue fold the top and
bottom flaps so they are
inside the box. The outside
edges should be attached
with a hot glue gun to
ensure they will stick.
Step 6: Cut a section of
paper that will fit inside the
box. Fold the paper in the
middle. Cut a line on the
fold and crease the edges
so the paper will fit the
inside of the box.
Supply List:
Cardboard Box
Box Cutter / X-Acto Knife
Hot Glue Gun
Scissors
Spray Craft Glue - This is very sticky so you may want to use this outdoors
Wrapping Paper - Try to get thin paper that has lines for cutting on the back
Step 7: Lightly spray the
inside of the box and attach
folded paper. This is the
most difficult step as the
paper is hard to fit inside.
Step 8: For the top and
bottom flaps, fold the paper
to make a crease at the
edge of the box. Lift paper
up from the box.
Step 9: Fold paper under at
the crease to make a crisp
edge. Then attach the edge
of the paper to the box
using hot glue.
Step 10: Trim the edges of
the extra paper and attach
the sides with hot glue.
Step 11: Lay the side of the
box on the wrapping paper
and cut along the edges of
the box leaving 2 extra
inches on each side.
Step 12: Spray glue inside
the box and insert a corner
of the paper. Remove and
reapply paper as need until
the paper is smooth.
Step 13: Flip box onto
other side and fold paper so
it covers the outside edge
of the box. Spray side and
attach paper.
Step 14: Fold edges of
paper to obtain the same
crisp edge in steps 8-9.
Repeat process for the
other side of the box.
Step 15: Decorate box as
desired to display your
county fair exhibit.
