Aspect TableThis table identifies the meaningfulaspects, or angles, between the dif-ferent planets and sensitive points inyour Birth Chart. (These aspects alsoare depicted as lines in the center ofthe chart wheel.) If two planets areaspected to each other, you will seea symbol in the box where they intersect in this table. The definitionfor each of these symbols can befound in the legend at the bottom ofthe chart.

The significance of aspected planetsis that their energies interact in someway. Just as two people in a couplecreate more than the sum of theirparts, aspected planets contributedynamically to a chart. Some aspectsharmonize and some pose chal-lenges, but in all cases, they have animpact and play a key role in chartinterpretation.

Planet Summary

Elements Table

The signs of the zodiac are divided in astrology into groups offour elements (Fire, Earth, Air and Water) and three qualities(Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable). This table shows which categoryand quality applies to each of the twelve signs. (The symbols forthe signs are defined in the legend at the bottom of the chart.)

This is a list of the sign and houselocations for all the planets andasteroids that are depicted by sym-bols in your Birth Chart, as well asfor the Ascendant and Midheaven. The sign and the house are bothvery important in the interpretation ofyour chart.

Planet Location & DirectionA lot of important information is captured here. The outermost symbol indicates theplanet itself. Next in line, the location of the planet is indicated by exact degree andminute (a fraction of a degree) separated by the sign symbol. Finally, if the planetwas moving backward, or retrograde, at the moment of birth, you will see a symbolthat looks like an R with a small x for a foot. In this example, the string of char-acters reads Saturn is at 7 degree, 9 minutes of Aries, retrograde.

House CuspEach of the twelve houses in theBirth Chart starts and ends at a par-ticular point in the zodiac, and thisvaries completely depending uponbirthplace and time. The symbols yousee here indicate the starting point or"cusp" of the house in degree andminutes of the sign listed. For exam-ple, here we see that the seventhhouse cusp in this Birth Chart is 27degrees, 51 minutes of Capricorn.Incidentally, what we refer to as theAscendant is synonymous with thefirst house cusp, and the Midheavenis the same as the tenth house cusp.

Aspect LinesThese lines depict the meaningful aspects, or angles, between the different planets andsensitive points in your Birth Chart, and the symbols appearing on the line tell you whetherthe aspect is an opposition, a square, a trine, etc. This information is also listed in theAspect Table to the right of the chart wheel. The definition for each of the symbols can befound in the legend at the bottom of the chart.

The significance of aspected planets is that their energies interact in some way. And just liketwo people in a couple create more than the sum of their parts, aspected planets contributedynamically to a chart. Some aspects harmonize and some pose challenges, but in allcases, they have an impact and play a key role in chart interpretation.

The Twelve Houses

Your birth chart is divided into twelve "houses," which govern specific areas of yourlife. The Birth Chart makes it easy to see which house or realm each planet was locat-ed in at the time of birth. One of many valid ways to understand the houses is to thinkof them as an evolutionary path, from the emergence of the Self into consciousness inthe first house up to the collective cosmic consciousness and realm of dreams repre-sented by the twelfth. Common keywords for the houses are:

1st House: Self (I Am)

2nd House: Possessions

(I Have)3rd House:

Immediate Environment (I Communicate)

4th House: Home

(I Am Nurtured)

5th House: Self-Expression (I Create)

6th House: Work (I Serve)

7th House: Others (I Relate)

12th House: The Unconscious

(I Dream)

11th House: Friends and Ideals

(I Envision)

8th House: Sex and Death (I Transform)

10th House: Career and Worldly

Power (I Build)

9th House:Philosophy (I Believe)
