There are two ways to access Snapshot:
SnapshotThis program allows “view only” access to officers’ records that have been submitted to POST by an agency and can be used as a tool for SPOC’s to check status of their peace officers’ training, employment history, certificates and other information
or

1. Go directly to the web site:

2. Go to NV POST Home Page

1. Click on dropdown to select your agency
2. Enter password (This is the same password you will use for Formatta E-Forms)

A list of all active peace officers that POST has in its database for your agency will appear

Click on name of peace officer to open their record
Type last name of peace officer in box and click “Find” if necessary

Click on any tab for information under that section ie “Training” shows a list of training per year according to NV POST Records in database

The record for “Annual Training Compliance” will reflect as follows:
Status: “Passed” with “Hours” as “1.00” indicates that specific requirement is met for Credit Year indicated
Status: “Completed” with “Hours” as “0.01” indicates “Excused” for that specific requirement for Credit Year indicated
*P numbers will reflect actual hours of the professional course completed and B numbers will reflect NAC minimum requirement for academy completion

Snapshot also has an option for viewing and printing the officer profile if needed

Adding a New Peace Officer

Click on the page icon in
“Employment PAR” section

Enter Username – this is the 4-digit number POST uses to identify your agency
Enter Password – this is the 8-character alpha/numeric password assigned to you by POST
Each time you exit a Formatta form, you will have to log in again to

1. Enter 4-digit “Agency ID #” assigned from POST
2. Enter your agency name
3. Enter name of agency that completed the background
4. Enter investigator’s full name
5. Enter a contact phone number for investigator

NAC 289.350 (1) The personnel action report
form must be submitted to the Executive Director within 15
days after the date of employment or termination of
a peace officer or the activation or termination of
the reserve status of a reserve officer.

6. Click “Yes” or “No” to indicate whether National Decertification Index database was checked
If your agency does not currently have access to the NDI, and would like to, please visit their web page at https://iadlest.org/Projects/NDI20.aspx and click “Request Access”

7. If the person has been previously POST certified, click “Yes” and enter their POST ID#, otherwise click “No”
8. Click “Yes” to indicate the person is at least 21 years of age and enter their date of birth
9. Click “Yes” to indicate the person is a citizen of the United States
10. Click on dropdown to indicate whether person is male or female

11. Click “Yes” if academy training is required
Click “No” if person is already POST certified or has graduated from an academy as a non-affiliate or is a candidate for reciprocity from another state;and enter a note in the “Comments:” box specifying which.
12. Enter the name of the academy the person will be attending within the next12 months

NRS 289.550 Persons required to be certified by Peace
Officers’ Standards and Training Commission; period by which certification
is required. 1. Except as otherwise provided in
subsection 2 and NRS 3.310, 4.353, 258.007 and 258.060, a person
upon whom some or all of the powers of a peace officer are conferred pursuant to NRS
289.150 to 289.360, inclusive, must be certified by the Commission within
1 year after the date on which the person commences employment as a peace officer
unless the Commission, for good cause shown, grants in writing an extension of time, which
must not exceed 6 months, by which the person must become certified.

14. Enter position title
16. Enter the person’s hire date as a peace officer with your agency
17. Click button for “Full Time” or “Part Time”
18. Enter person’s last name, first name, middle name and suffix (if applicable)
19. Enter person’s previous name if applicable
20. Enter person’s home address, city, state, and zip
21. Enter any additional information you believe is necessary for POST to be aware of in “Comments:”

Updating Peace Officer Information

Remember: You must log in each time you change forms

You can make multiple changes with this form if needed

Terminating a Peace Officer’s
Employment
NAC 289.290 (3) Denial, revocation, suspension and reinstatement of
certificate. The employing agency shall notify the Commission any time that it
becomes aware that one of its officers has been charged with a crime that could result in denial, suspension or revocation procedures. Upon receipt of information alleging any of the causes enumerated in subsection 1, the
Commission will determine whether to pursue revocation or suspension of the certificate of
the officer.

Basic Certificate Application

1. Enter person’s 5-digit POST ID #
2. Click “Lookup” and verify the correct name appears
3. Click correct category
4. Enter date the state certification exam was successfully completed (This date can be found in officer’s record in “Snapshot” under the “Training” tab)

NOTE: Only one basic certificate per submission can be requested
5. Enter the 8-character academy course “B” number and click “Lookup”
This number should be located on the
“Academy Certificate of Completion”
6. Enter the academy completion date
(Academy course name and hours will auto fill)

NOTE: Academy hours reflect the minimum required by NAC and are not necessarily the total hours of training received in the academy

Retain original document in agency file.

Entering Professional Training or Annual Compliance Training

Note: The “Professional Training or Annual Compliance” Form is
used to report either the officer’s professional training or the officer’s annual compliance
training
You can only report one completed course at a
time
That is: one professional training course
completion
Or one of the annual compliance
requirements per submission
Hint: The “Reset Form” button comes in handy here

2. Click “Lookup” and verify the correct name appears

1. To enter a Professional Training course, click on box next to “Professional Training?” to activate that section of the form
2. Enter the POST Course# (it will begin with the letter “P”
3. Click “Lookup”
The course name and hours will appear
4. Enter the date the course was completed

1. To enter annual compliance, click the box next to “Annual Compliance?” to activate that section of the form
2. Check to make sure the credit year is correct as it will default to current year
3. Click the box next to one of the completed requirements

Submit only once when the requirement has been completed
Do not submit hours of training as they accrue
This includes the “12 hours Agency Training” requirement
If you are unsure if a requirement has been submitted to POST, please verify
in “Snapshot” program
4. To report an excused requirement, click box next to item
5. Choose excused reason from the dropdown box items
