Flu season is
here. Getting a flu
vaccine is the best
way to protect against all three
currently circulating strains of
the flu including influenza A
(H1N1 and H3N2 strains) and
Influenza B. Annual vaccina-
tion against flu is recommend-
ed for all people six months of
age and older, unless they have
a condition or medical reason
not to get the vaccine. By get-
ting the flu vaccine now, stu-
dents are not only protecting
themselves from the flu, but
are less likely to spread the vi-
rus to family members, co-
workers and others. The flu
vaccine is readily available this
season in all communities. If
you student is sick with a fever
over 100 degrees please re-
member they should not be
sent to school until they are
fever free for 24 hours without
the help of Tylenol or Ibu-
profen. Thanks for your help
in keeping our school healthy.

tation of early intervention services for infants and toddlers eligible for the Missouri First Steps program.
The Francis Howell School District assures that personally identifiable information collected, used, or maintained by
the agency for the purposes of identification, evaluation, placement or provision of FAPE of children with disabilities
may be inspected and/or reviewed by their parents/guardians. Parents/guardians may request amendment to the edu-
cational record if the parent/guardian believes the record is inaccurate, misleading, or violates the privacy or other
rights of their child. Parents have the right to file complaints with the U.S. Department of Education or the Missouri
Department of Elementary and Secondary Education concerning alleged failures by the district to meet the require-
ments of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
The Francis Howell School District has developed a Local Compliance Plan for the implementation of State Regula-
tions for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This plan contains the agency’s policies and proce-
dures regarding storage, disclosure to third parties, retention and destruction of personally identifiable information
and the agency’s assurances that services are provided in compliance with the General Education Provision Act

Rick Pavia Director of Operations and Facilities
FRANCIS HOWELL SCHOOL DISTRICT 636-851-6300
To: The Parents and Staff of the Francis Howell School District From: Rick Pavia, Director of Operations and Facilities Date: July 18, 2012 The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act of 1986 (AHERA) was enacted by Congress to determine the ex-tent of and develop solutions for any problems schools may have related to asbestos. A certified asbestos inspec-tor, as required by AHERA, has inspected facilities of the Francis Howell School District. The results of the in-spection were used to develop a professionally certified asbestos management plan. The management plan of the district facilities includes the education and training of employees, a set of plans and procedures designed to minimize the disturbance of asbestos-containing materials and plans for regular surveil-lance of those materials. A copy of the asbestos management plan is available for your inspection in the district administrative offices, dur-ing regular office hours. Should you wish to inspect the plan or if you have any questions, please contact Mr. Rick Pavia, Director of Operations and Facilities, at (636) 851-6300.
