March Continued• Each entry for the Poetry Contest must address an Earth Day Theme:

• Recycling, Reduce, Reuse, Rethink, THE EARTH AND YOU! •

• All public, private, or home-schooled students in 5th through 12th grades are eligible to participate. There is a limit of one

entry per student and there is no fee to enter. • Entries for the Essay must not exceed 350 words.• The Poem should be no longer than 2 pages. • All submissions must be typed. Please put your name, grade, address, school, and teacher’s name at the upper left hand

corner of your essay or poem. • Essays and Poems will be judged on content, organization and grammar, and creativity by the grade level category entry of 5-

6, 7-8,9-12. • Contestants can submit contest entries by dropping them off at the School Office by Monday March 21nd prior to 11AM. • Contest winners will be announced in April 2011. • Prizes will be awarded to an entrant in each category.• Drop off entries at your School Office, and a local coordinator will pick up entries in the AM on Monday, March 21 st and

return them to the District Superintendent’s office for districtwide pick-up by a Centenary College Representative.• • • All entries will become property of Earth Day Committee and will not be returned. Winning poems and essays may be

published.

April Continued• The Student Poetry Contest is open to all students enrolled in grades 3-12 • Each entrant may submit one poem of no more than 20 lines on any subject, and in any

form, provided that the content of the poem is not vulgar or offensive, does not employ profanity, and is the original, individual work of the entrant.

• All submissions become the property of The America Library of Poetry and will be considered for publication in a forthcoming anthology and may appear on this website. Entrants retain copyright on his/her own individual work. Submissions by multiple entrants may be mailed together in one package to save on postage.

• All entries sent by mail must include completed entry form.

• Students may submit no more than one poem per contest.
