Pursuit

or the last few years, urged on by a friend, I have chosen a word to by my theme for the year. Twoears ago, the word was “adventure.” I had recently declared my candidacy for District 1 Supervisornd was on an adventure discovering new worlds and new people. Last year, the word was “venture.”

Venture is slightly dierent in that when venturing out, one puts oneself in a position of winning orosing and can include nancial benet or loss. It was all quite an experience, about which I have noegrets. When one thing doesn’t come to fruition, another does; thus, I write to you as President of

Humboldt Republican Women, Federated. What a compliment and a gift! Thank you.

My word for this year is “pursuit.” It’s a word and a concept that I hope you will embrace with me aswe move forward this year to make a positive imprint in our community and in politics in the year

head. We have various arenas where we can pursue these eorts. In conversation with your Boardmembers, we discussed the need to clean up the Republican voter rolls. Over the years, voters havemoved or have died and their names have not been removed. We need to support the Central

ommittee in this endeavor so we do not spend money endeavoring to inform those who no longer

eside in the county. Additionally, in an eort to gain a new presence in community aairs, we needo put our heads together to sponsor fundraisers where the funds raised will be donated to organiza-ons that support those ideals which we espouse. Needless to say, publicity for all we do isaramount. Any takers? More than one would be wonderful, since none of us likes working in aacuum.

At the California Federation of Republican Women Presidents’ Conference I attended in January, therewere issues addressed in which we also have a stake. For one, voter fraud issues, and for another, gunontrol. Election integrity is certainly an issue we can embrace. Currently there is nothing stoppingnyone from voting, and voting by mail is a source of fraud and mistakes in the misapplication of the

aw. We need to be proponents of accuracy in the voter registration law as, out of 24,000,000 votes,ne out of eight are invalid, according to Assemblywoman Catharine Baker. California voter registra-on law hasn’t been updated in more years than anyone can remember. Thirty-two states havenacted legislation for voter I.D. laws. California needs to step up to the plate. As CFRW movesorward on this, I will let you know. Many hands make light work. That’s also the working philosophyf HRWF!

As I mentioned in my previous paragraph, gun control is a paramount issue for us. It is, therefore, with great pleasure I announce that our speaker for February is Sheri Mike Downey, who will speakwith us on this issue. Our Second Amendment is being assaulted and we need to stay informed withhe straight facts. Please help me welcome this honorable servant of the people on February 17th,nd let us continue to pursue truth, service, and unity in all we do.

Warmest regards,

Second Amendment Assauin California

Last September, Governor Brown signed hundreds of bills into law. Uthe sheer enormity of this volume of legislation, our rights as free,self-determining people continue to erode. Make no mistake, progreDemocrats controlling the legislative, executive and judiciary branchgovernment now have the 2/3rds majority to pass anything, includinthe ban of our second amendment rights.

There is hope. All across the U.S., county sheris are standing up for tConstitution they took an oath to uphold. As our top elected ocial, constitutional sheri may be our only hope to stop this infringementour second amendment. 219 sheris have declared to preserve our rto bear arms. Join me in thanking Sheri Downey for this proactive s

S.B. #1221 HUNTING ALERT PASSED 9-26-12

Introduced by Senator Lieu, Law prohibits the use of hounds in thehunting pursuit of bears and bobcats.

nuary began our HRWF Membership drive. A printed membership form is included forou above, and is also available on our website. Your dues enable us to provide ourembers with quality programs at our luncheons and our president has a great line-up

f programs for this season! Many members don’t realize that out of every $30.00 of

ollected membership dues, $16.00 goes to CA Republican Women Federated, and2.00 goes into our scholarship fund. Humboldt Republican Women is left with $12.00om every member! Needless to say, we really appreciate your membership and alsoank the Republican Angel members who have donated so much of their time to our

rganization. It just goes to show that Women in Numbers WIN!

sit our new webpage at www.hrwf-ca.org I think that you will love it as you will seehas many fantastic educational and You-tube links.
