B. HUNT ELEMENTARY Home of the Islanders March 17, 2016 Important Dates From the Principals Desk: Dear R. B. Hunt Family: Have you ever had to give a speech in front a room full of your peers? That is a hard thing to do! We held our Tropicana Speech contest this week at Hunt. The follow- ing 5 th grade students were selected from their classes to participate in the contest; Mason Abare, Zoe Autowski, Aurora Atkins, Lance Budkoski, Lauren Burnett, Francesca Charles, Maddie Conlon, Bridget Connor, Joline DiMeglio, Micah Drozd , Gia Flaherty, Laney Goode, Brianna Grimes, Paul Janeczko, Lily Kiker, Tyce Minkoff, Skylar Riddling, and Camryn Robinson. Bridget Connor placed first and will represent our school at the Tropicana Speech Contest at the Agricultural center on Monday, April 25 th at 4:00p.m. Lauren Burnett, placed second and Camryn Robinson third. Many thanks to Beth Cleary for coordinating the event and to our judges, Donna Jung, Shelia Veatch and Brian Mor- gan and our timekeeper, Lila Sleeper. A BIG Thank you to the St. Augustine Amphitheatre for donating tickets to our R. B. Hunt Families for the Cirque Ziva Show featuring the Golden Dragon Acrobats tonight at the Amphitheatre. It is a great way to kick off spring break! I hope you were able to take advantage of this great opportunity! Thank you to all the many volunteers who walked with our students to the am- phitheater for the Murray Middle School production of The Lion King”. I am so pleased that our school was able to watch this awesome production. I also want to remind par- ents that all of our field trips enable us to meet the educational standards and bench- marks that are part of our curriculum. So, they all have to be approved by the district and do have an educational objective. Our F.S.A. testing will begin on Wednesday, March 30th with our 3 rd grade stu- dents. They will test Wednesday-Monday from 8:45-10:15. They are ready! Please help us by having students well rested and fed. We also ask that you keep that in mind when you are in the building. Congratulations to Rosie Shannon, Lasse Schnotalla, Bridget Baker and Zack Watson for reading One Million Words! You are now part of the club! Way to go! Dear R. B. Hunt Family:

Have you ever had to give a speech in front a room full of your peers? That is a hard thing to do! We held our Tropicana Speech contest this week at Hunt. The follow-ing 5th grade students were selected from their classes to participate in the contest; Mason Abare, Zoe Autowski, Aurora Atkins, Lance Budkoski, Lauren Burnett, Francesca Charles, Maddie Conlon, Bridget Connor, Joline DiMeglio, Micah Drozd , Gia Flaherty, Laney Goode, Brianna Grimes, Paul Janeczko, Lily Kiker, Tyce Minkoff, Skylar Riddling, and Camryn Robinson. Kids LEGO and Coding Club Wednesday, March 23 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm Come into the library to play with over 60 pounds of LEGO bricks and pieces. Want to do even more building, but a different kind? Kids and tweens can come into the library to learn with us during our Hour of Code! We will have some iPads for kids to share, or bring in your own tablet. There is no registration or fee for this program.
