HOME LEARNING SUPERSTAR
A huge well done to Hugo in 5C who is not only
completing the tasks set, but has also enjoyed
doing his own extra work across the curriculum:
doing experiments; stargazing; mapwork; building a volcano;
learning about Vikings, Mayans and Aztecs and creating artwork
that goes with them; various PE activities; entering a story
writing competition; revising French and even starting to learn
Portuguese! Wow, Hugo! You have been keeping busy!
50 house points from Mrs Laher on return.
RECEPTION
The Reception team enjoyed welcoming the Reception children back to school last
week. We would like to say a big well done for settling back into school brilliantly. The children have already been busy revisiting
their phonics, exploring forest school, making lots of arts and crafts and lots more! It has been so lovely to have the children
back and hear them laughing and playing together so beautifully. Thank you to the Reception parents for their
continued support.
STAFF NEWS
We are very sad to be saying goodbye to two members of staff at the end of this term.
Miss Hamilton is leaving us to further her career, and Miss Gardner is going to do a PGCE
to train as a teacher. We would like to thank them both for all their hard work and their
care for the children in their time at Hurst Park. We wish them all the very best of luck
and much happiness and success for the future.
We are looking forward to welcoming Mr Ashley Mclellan, who will be joining our
teaching team in September. We hope he will be very happy at Hurst Park.

TIMES TABLES ROCK STARS Times Tables Rock Stars is a fantastic resource available for all children to use and is a brilliant
way of learning and practising times tables at home. The ability to recall times tables is so important and it is such a valuable skill. We suggest all children spend 15 minutes a day on
Times Tables Rock Stars which can be found at https://www.ttrockstars.com.
SELF-NURTURING With some of our children now having returned back to school, we have been hearing from parents about the
struggles of balancing home, work and happiness during this time. We can spend so much time focusing on the needs and wellbeing of our children that we often put our own needs to the bottom of the list. Self-nurturing and meeting our own needs is an important part of emotional health; we cannot nurture other people if we are not in
a good place ourselves. We can use the analogy of safety procedures on an aeroplane: adults are advised to put on their own oxygen mask before attending to anyone else. If you are finding things difficult at the moment, please
get in touch; we may have some advice or resources we can send your way. Mrs Moss
READING RECOMMENDATION
Read and talk about books which celebrate diversity and differences online here.

YEAR 1-5 HOME LEARNING COMPETITION: RE-DESIGN A BOOK COVER
Mrs Laher is running a home learning competition for children to design their own new front cover for their favourite book. This can be any book that they have read or are reading at the moment, and we encourage these
to be as creative as possible. You can draw these, paint these or dress up as one of the characters and stage these. Please send a photo of the real book cover and the newly designed book cover to Mrs Laher's email
address by 26th June 2020: [email protected]
The winning prize will be 50 house points for their team on return and a £10 book voucher. Get creative!
VIRTUAL SPORTS WEEK
We will be holding a virtual sports week from 6th July. More details to follow.
