CONGRATULATIONS We are thrilled to announce that our lovely ELSA, Mrs Moss, is taking on the role of Home School Link Worker here at Hurst Park. Whilst she will continue to deliver Emotional Literacy Support to our pupils, she will also provide a range of family support interventions and activities alongside
personalised interventions to support the social and emotional development of individual pupils. We wish her well in this exciting new role!
RECEPTION We would like to give a special well done to our reception children, who have
settled into school so well. Their teachers were very impressed with their family photo show and tell.
INTERNATIONAL WALK TO SCHOOL WEEK On Wednesday 7th October, Hurst Park School will be taking part in the International Walk to School Day. Please note that the drop-off zone and staff car park will be closed all day on this day. If you live
too far away to walk, would you please park your vehicle away from the school site and walk the remaining few minutes to school.
Please ensure that your car is parked safely and does not cause a hazard to the children, or to our neighbours.
YEAR 1 Year 1 have been looking at traditional tales. They decided to start with the story of the Three
Little Pigs. The children enjoyed telling the story through role play using masks, playing with bricks, straw and sticks in their outdoor area, and describing the characters using adjectives! Miss Jolley
said, “It has been lovely to see the children so involved with their English learning”.

RETURNING TO SCHOOL AFTER DIARRHOEA OR VOMITING
We would like to remind you of the situation regarding returning to school following any incident of diarrhoea
or vomiting.
The Public Health England’s ‘Guidance on Infection Control in Schools’ (March 2017) states that following diarrhoea
and/or vomiting, children should be kept away from school, nursery and child minders for 48 hours from
the last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.
Hurst Park School has adopted the Public Health England’s policy and any child who has had diarrhoea or sickness will
not be permitted to return to school for 48 hours from their last episode.
INSTRUMENT OF THE WEEK This week's instrument of the week has been:
the violin

Please would all parents provide a lightweight cagoule (plastic zip or over-the-head style only) plus spare pair of socks, shorts and T-shirt in a named bag that can stay in school on your child's peg in case of inclement weather during PE lessons.
SCHOOL FUND
Thank you to all the parents who have sent in their school fund donation. Last year, these funds contributed
towards running workshops, materials for science week and a cataloguing system for the library. This year
contributions will go towards Purple Mash and Tapestry to assist with home learning. We would welcome any
outstanding contributions.
Thank you.
ANTI-IDLING
To help improve the air quality around the school for our children and our neighbours, would parents please switch off their engines whilst waiting for the drop-off
zone to open.
END OF DAY COLLECTION
If you need to inform us of any changes to the end of day collection, would you please call the office. If you are unable to call during the day, you can call out of hours and leave a message on the answerphone. This will be
picked up first thing in the morning. Please do not email us as your message may be missed.
MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS
If your child will be absent from school due to a medical appointment, would you please leave a message on the absence line rather than emailing, as again these are not always picked up in good time.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT If your financial circumstances have changed recently and
you are in receipt of any kind of government funded support, it may be that your child is entitled to Pupil
Premium status. This would enable your child to access financial support with school trips (whenever such things are possible again!), clubs and free school meals. Please
print and complete the form attached and return to school in order for us to check your family’s eligibility.
FOODBANK Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, we are unable to collect food to be donated to the East Elmbridge Foodbank. The charity has set up a Harvest Appeal local giving page so that parents
can donate financially instead. If you are able to help, please visit: https://localgiving.org/east-elmbridge-foodbank-harvest2020
