This amazing tribander, using a dual driven 7 element system, maintains aVSWR of less than 2:1 across all bands, including ALL of ten meters. No com-promise on gain performance was needed to achieve this efficiency. A uniquecombination of trapped and monoband parasitic elements produces a front-to-backratio of 27 dB. The Hy-GainR DX-Series VHF/UHF beams are based on the DL6WU element length and spacing and were further refined on Hy-GainRs antennatest range and by computer modeling. Both beams feature encapsulated weather proof feedpoints with type N connectors for excellent VSWR andpower handling. High quality mechanical construction is assured by heavy wall booms and boom supports made of 6063-T832 aluminum tubing,stainless steel hardware, UV stabilized thick-shoulder element insulators and PTFE coaxial baluns.

The OSCAR antennas are available as a complete system or asseparate modules, each complete with the necessary phasinglines, relays and hardware. The complete system is carefullymatched and balanced for superior performance. The flexible design with switchable up/down link antennas issuitable for worldwide applications. It includes left and rightcircularity switching to reduce fading (less than 3 dB eliptici-ty). Each antenna has high efficiency Delta matched or “T”matched driven elements. True RF switching relays are ratedat 200 Watts and improved VSWR for higher efficiency. Feedpoints are encapsulated and weather protected for long life.The crossboom, made of fiberglass, maintains the integrity ofthe circularity pattern and eliminates the interaction problemsoften found with metal booms. The MIL-spec coax baluncomes with a TeflonR dielectric and outer covering. Silver plat-ed braid shield and center conductor assure durability and min-imum attenuation.The 70 cm antenna is based on 4.2 wavelength NBS design(NBS Tech Note 688). The 2 Meter antenna has logarithmicelement spacing for high attenuation of side lobes. For years of maintenance free operation, the elements comewith positive locking rings of stainless steel and UV stabilizedthick shouldered insulators to minimize frequency shifts duringrain. Mechanically the entire system or the separate antennas arewell balanced, require only a small turningradius, and exert minimal stress on the eleva-tion rotators.

HY-GAIN R ANTENNA TOWERS

SELF-SUPPORTINGCRANK-UP TOWERSHy-GainR’s rugged self-supporting crank-up towers are made ofsteel and are galvanized after welding to ASTM material standards.Open end tubular steel legs are galvanized inside and out and permitunrestricted moisture drainage. Giant welding fixtures assurestraight and true alignment of the tower sections for close tolerancecrank-up guide systems. A highly recommended option is the thrustbearing, which can be bolted to the tower’s top section to acceptmasts of up to 23/16 inches (55 mm) diameter. All Hy-GainR towers are complete with base hinge, foundation steel-cage and a pre-drilled rotator mounting plate. These towers requireno guying and conform to EIA specifications and the UniformBuilding Code. UBC documents for building permits are availableon request (specify tower model) before purchasing a tower. Asmall deposit is required and is refunded when the tower is pur-chased. Diamond-Web bracing means more strength where it isneeded most. The “diamond web” or “double W” lattice brace configuration isused in Hy-GainR towers for added strength where the sections over-lap. The diamond web design has 21/2 times the strength of the com-mon “W” brace. When the tower is in its fully extended position,the wind load capacity is between 50 and 60 miles per hour (at itsfull rated load) depending on model.
