I PAD PROGRAM• pilot program that began in the

Fall of 2012• reaching students at all levels of

learning • allowing students to reach

farther and faster than ever to access information

• doors are being unlocked for reluctant and struggling learners

• widening the door for students who are ready to take it to the next level for concepts being taught

• Videos and camera tools are valuable to record work in labs for science. Students have used this tool to extend activities at home and return to the classroom to share on the Smart Board

• Students’ record and email reading fluency and other work to obtain immediate feedback from other students and teacher. Collaboration is a part of everyday classroom life as students are able to research and compose pieces which then can be emailed for review by other students

• Students have become very skilled at using Adobe to define

and refine writing pieces

• Current events and articles from sources such as Time for Kids and National Geographic are shared out frequently so that students can critique articles and events important to our lives

• More texts and workbooks are becoming available to

students through their I-pad to reduce cost and also lighten backpacks

• Teachers are able to “tailor” assignments to meet individual students needs, allowing for remediation and enrichment.

How are they used in the classroom?

Allows for students access information and work collaboratively. Pertinent information is able to be shared out to the entire group via email.

This immediate feedback enhances the learning experience.

Purposeful learning happens when students can collaborate and give feedback.

• Immediate input and feedback can be given to students regarding assignments and assessments.

• This promotes more ownership and interest.

• I-pads in the hands of students connects them with other classmates in a way that is more realistic to the outside world experience

• The success of the 3rd grade program has been a convincing factor in incorporating and including the fourth and fifth grade students to the 1:1 I-Pad program in enhancing their classroom experience as well.

• Technology is ever-changing and students are learning the skills they need to adapt to these changes through collaboration and in developing and using problem solving skills.

• We hope to continue moving forward with our technology program to meet the needs of our ever-changing landscape in education.
