Everything aroundus is breaking forthwith new life andour spirits seem to be uplifted as

we see all of creation shining forth its beauty. Theseare some of God's whispers to us. He is wooing ourhearts onto Him and reminds us of His steadfast andunending love. Yet we question all the uncertaintyand instability of life near and afar. Recently ourcommunity has suffered immensely and many arefilled with great sorrow and broken hearts. Why is their suffering in the midst of God’s beauty and love?

Over the past 20 years after the loss of our children and growing in life’s experiences and gaining a little bit of understanding and wisdom,I’ve come to accept and believe a few things. We allin our humanity at some point come to a crossroadin this life and try to make peace with the who, why and what’s in the bigger story and mysteries ofGod. I cannot say I know why and understand afterall this time the mystery of our children leaving sosoon from this earth, yet I’ve seen thousands ofother children around the world rescued and helpedand filled with the love of God, their “Father.” Butwhy? I was never given a choice in this, yet I wasleft with a choice to either believe that there is a

God and He is good and He will somehow keep usand give purpose to our lives once again, or die. As I have shed years of tears I know that our children’sdeath was not in vain, yet this is a mystery of God.

God continues to whisper to all humanity in itsturmoil, uncertainty, vanity and greed, His love. Heis wooing all people of every tribe and nation toHimself to believe, surrender, trust and receive His loving help. We are only human and He is “ElShaddai” the Almighty God, creator of all things.

When I was told years ago just after my childrendied to just be strong and stay busy, my being justshut down. I could do nothing except maybebreathe and try to make it one more day. How does one survive such a thing? Look at history and all the atrocities of mankind and the survival of people worldwide. Can you hear the weeping ofGod? We have. When I hold a mother who has losttheir child or a child who has lost their mommy and daddy, the question of “why” continues to meltaway. That heaviness upon my chest begins to lift asthe comfort, life and virtue that has kept me infusesinto them.

My life has purpose and I’ve come to believe thatGod has and will bring His best in our lives. As I continue to surrender, trust and allow His love and healing to flow into and through me I live. I ama woman who loves and is loved by God, purposedto make a difference in this world one by one.

With love,

In 2005 I went to Ghana with apreventative dental clinic, to givechildren a dental checkup, andmost importantly instruction onhow to keep their teeth healthy. The second day there I went tothe JoshKrisDan home to meetthe children and do their teeth. While I worked the twins Johnand Jonathan tugged at my heart. My husband Stephen and I

were moved to become sponsors upon my return. After all theseyears it has been wonderful to see these boys grow. Today they arestrong young men who love to work hard just like my husband.

This last year was so exciting for us when we heard of Johnhaving an interest in building. Through HFO we were able toprovide the funds for him to be enrolled in vocationalschool. This school provides room, board and on the job train-ing. We praise God for the opportunity to meet the needs of Hischildren. Thank you HFO for your vision and commitment toour boys.

With appreciation, JoAnn and Steve Shmulsky

Ecc. 3:1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”

By John Moritz

Springtime brings forth a burst of new life, and a changeof seasons. Our older children in Ghana have come to aseason in their lives when they are moving on from thehome. They have started new jobs and are facing newchallenges. Bernard, Sowah, Richard, and Wisdom are liv-ing in Tema and Accra. Wisdom is working as an assistantchef in a hotel. Richard is painting portraits for a com-mercial artist. Bernard is working with one of our oldergirls, Love, who was a HFO sponsored child, he is an ap-prentice fashion designer. Sowah is learning cinematogra-phy. Finally, Esther who still lives at the home, is workingas an apprentice beautician in Prampram. They still needour support and prayers, so please consider a gift for ourolder children this season.

Now like Spring, new life will be coming to theJoshKrisDan home as we welcome four new children. These children need a loving safe environment, and theopportunity to have their hopes and dreams fulfilled. They will be coming from brokenness, abuse, and poverty, but God wants to rescue and restore them. That is our call and responsibility and the mission for Hearts of the Father Outreach. We need and appreciate yourpartnership. Together we are helping change lives.

Hearts of the Father School of Arts and Technology

We are so excited the funds have come in through agenerous and passionate couple who want the schoolto be finished!

Our goal is to open this Fall the K-1 classes. Pleasekeep this in your prayers. We are planning some fundraisers this summer for the Art and Technology materi-als. Our vision is to have a Primary-Secondary schoolin a rural fishing community that will provide an edu-cation that is usually only available for the wealthy private schools in the cities. The Arts and technologyare important for creative thinking and will help the children learn and be trained for the developing job market.

On the Move!

Augustina Omari

I am grateful to God for his favorand grace over my life. I am sothankful for Daddy John andMama Libby for adopting meinto the Home.

After my father’s death, lifewas not easy at all because he was the bread winner in ourfamily. My mom worked extra hours, but it was hard to feedseven children including myself, so we started to go to livewith other family members.

I lived with a half-sister, Veronica, in a nearby town. Whenmy sister went to work, I was left alone for long periods oftime. I eventually was sent to live at the Osu Children’s Home. The Board of Directors at Hearts of The Father Outreach became aware of my situation through my sister, Veronica, and I was adopted at the age of 10 into the JoshKrisDan Homeon October 5, 2005.

I had not gone to school before coming into Hearts of TheFather. I had to work very hard in school to catch up and at theage of 19, I graduated from Senior High School. While I was inhigh school, I had to role play as a school nurse and that waswhen I realized helping both the sick and the well was in myfuture. I am now finishing my third year of nursing at ValleyView University in Oyibi Ghana. I would like to pursue a mas-ters in nursing and become a nurse midwife or pediatrician.

Coming to know Auntie Nancy has been such an inspirationto me. She is mentoring me with help in my next steps aftergraduation.

One of my goals is to start a project for screening for chronicdiseases in some of the small villages. There are so many diseases, like malaria, HIV and typhoid that take the lives of many young men and women here in Ghana before someof them can reach their potential in life.
