The experiences of PPI CHROBOK S.A. gained from Direct Pipe pipelines installa ons

Direct Pipe technology is one of the currently developing drilling technologies that enables trenchless construc on of transmission pipelines. It gains more and more popularity, and the number of designed crossings increases every year. The speaker will present the company’s experience gained while deploying all of the Direct Pipe crossings so far (in 2016-2019). The installa ons were deployed in various ground condi ons on lengths from 300 to 700 m and diameters of 1000 and 1200 mm. Speaker will also show the possibilites available thanks to this technology.

2. Jacek Janicki, ZRB Janicki

HDD – range of applica ons

During the presenta on there will be discussed the possibili es and limita ons of HDD tech-nologies in comparison with the alterna ve technologies.

3. Jacek Jaworski, Heads sp. z o.o.

5. Jari Kaukonen, The Interna onal Society for Trenchless Technology (ISTT)

Finnish trenchless market overview

The trenchless industry in Finland implements many interes ng projects using a full range of trenchless methods. Trenchless construc on – in terms of the number of tasks and variety of methods – is currently the fastest growing branch of trenchless technologies used in Finland.

ISTT has a new structure of working, what does that mean? A global aspect to the markets and ac vi es

The global market is ge ng stronger every day, slowly but surely. Both the need to protect the environment and economic considera ons aff ect the wider use of trenchless methods. How can the global organiza on of experts – theore cians and prac oners – from the trenchless industry posi vely infl uence the progress in the development of this industry, what ac ons can and wants to undertake?

6. dr inż. Andrzej Kolonko, Wrocław University of Science and Technology

Op miza on of loads having the impact on the pipelines laid in the ground

The op mal load distribu on for circular sec on pipelines is the radial load, evenly distribu-ted over the en re circumference. For such a load pa ern, the bending moments disappear, and the only internal forces are the axial forces and the compressive stress induced by them. During the presenta on, there will be presented technical possibili es that allow modifi ca on of loads distribu on and enable their op miza on.

Criteria for the selec on of technology for trenchless construc on of gas pipeline sec ons – experiences of Gaz-System S.A.

During the presenta on speaker will discuss the technologies for trenchless crossings in gro-ups up to at least 150 m, used for deployment of Gaz-System S.A. projects. The scale of imple-menta on will be exemplifi ed by the projects implemented since 2016; presented will be also the condi ons of use for individual technologies. Criteria which help to decide on the choice

of technology at the design stage or the subsequent change of technology a er selec ng the contractor will be also discussed. Due to the relevance of the issue, also the eff ec veness of performance and the risks, as well as costs of the infl uence the works have on the society and the environment, will be presented.

8. dr Henk M.G. Kruse, Deltares

Horizontal direc onal drilling: past, present and future

Since the early nine es of last century the trenchless techniques were applied more o en. Especially the horizontal direc onal drilling technique became very popular. Horizontal direc- onal drilling (HDD) is one of the fastest growing techniques for trenchless installa on of

pipelines. On one hand HDD provides a logical alterna ve when cables, pipelines or small tunnels need to cross roads, railways, dikes, wetlands, rivers and other structures that have to

remain intact. On the other hand HDD techniques minimize the impact of installa on ac vi es in densely popula-ted and economical sensi ve areas. During the past decades major developments in HDD took place. Not only the equipment was improved, but due to the signifi cant increase of the knowledge level major steps forward were token. The developments are ongoing and in the near future further improvements are expected.

9. Tomek Łucek, Wydawnictwo INŻYNIERIA sp. z o.o.

Corporate Social Responsibility – its role and importance for business

Corporate social responsibility is a broad and popular around the world concept, according to which business representa ves in their business strategies take into account and implement ac vi es concerning, among others, social issues, environmental protec on, that also infl uen-ce the rela onship with other stakeholders groups.

During the presenta on, speaker will explain the idea behind the CSR and he will also present the selected aspects of this area, relevant for companies and enterprises. The material will be illustrated by the examples of selected ac ons and projects.

10. Robert Osikowicz, ROE

Op miza on of drilling process based on real HDD projects

The paper presents the methodology of taking ac ons and poten al areas for eff ec ve op mi-za on of the drilling process. The analysis covered a series of HDD projects made in the DN1000 standard deployed in the years 2016-2019.

11 Dymitr Petrow-Ganew, Herrenknecht AG

Direct Pipe for small diameters. Comparison of Direct Pipe, HDD and microtunneling tech-nologies

The Direct Pipe technology for small diameters has been developed for crossing terrain obstacles with steel pipelines from DN500 to DN800 in the distance up to 1000 metres. Un l now, the limita ons in the use of smaller diameters in the tradi onal Direct Pipe technology were caused by the dimensions of the centrifugal pumps for the mud transport system, which were installed

in the pipelines as well as the size of the hydraulic aggregate for the drive of the cu ng head of the head. Along with the development and tes ng of the jet pump and compact hydraulic unit, the Direct Pipe technology has been able to perform pipe crossings with diameters from 20 “(508 millimetres) to 28” (711 millimetres) for distances up to 1000 me-tres. In the second part of the presenta on, the following technologies will be compared: Direct Pipe, HDD and micro-tunnelling together with an indica on of their advantages and limita ons, especially in the installa on of gas pipelines.

Diagnos cs, assessment of technical condi on and monitoring of large-diameter sewage collectors

In recent years, many new trenchless projects and moderniza on of underground infrastruc-ture of large ci es have been carried out. Execu on of new facili es, especially in a strongly urbanized environment, is related to the impact of nearby building objects and may cause a change in water and ground condi ons. Diagnos cs and assessment of the technical condi on

of the collectors require conduc ng mul -criterial, complex analyzes (o en going beyond the standard recommen-da ons) and the use of modern measurement techniques to increase the safety of their opera on. In carrying out analyzes, you can use both the design and opera on stages, numerical calcula ons to determine displacements and the loca on of measurement points and the selec on of monitoring methods. During the occurrence of problems in the opera on of objects it is important to carry out, using modern measurement techniques (eg geophysics), assess the condi on of the structure and the surrounding soil, determine the current values of the parameters of the mate-rials and a very thorough analysis of various factors that could aff ect the emergence of an emergency. The paper will present experiments based on technical condi on evalua on of exis ng large-diameter sewage collectors, methods of diagnosing causes of opera onal problems by means of modern measurement techniques and numerical models, refl ec ng local geotechnical condi ons and exis ng infrastructure.

13. Dipl.-Ök. Roland W. Waniek, IKT – Ins tut fü r UnterirdischeInfrastruktur gGmbH

Compara ve tests of manhole sha s renova on methods

Can wastewater manholes be rehabilitated so that they remain permanently water- ght? The-re is, indeed, li le point in rehabilita ng wastewater pipes without paying a en on to the numerous defec ve manholes. This is par cularly true in water infi ltra on zones, since a really water ght sewer network can only be achieved provided the manholes are also rehabilitated. What are the benefi ts and the draw-backs of mortar coa ng, plas c coa ng and lining. What

quality can be expected? This fi rst compara ve product test in this fi eld gives you the answers.

14. Wojciech Zatyka, Herrenknecht AG

E-Power Pipe technology for trenchless construc on of high-voltage grids

For several years, energy networks have been struggling with social protests associated with the construc on of overhead high voltage transmission lines. Therefore Herrenknecht has de-veloped a modern, trenchless E-Power Pipe technology for the construc on of underground, plas c pipelines for the installa on of high voltage transmission networks. This technology allows the installa on of plas c pipelines with a diameter of 300 mm to 700 mm at distances

up to 1500 m. At the later stage, these pipelines are used for laying high voltage transmission cables in them.

15. dr inż. Dariusz Zwierzchowski, Centrum Badań i Certyfi kacji sp. z o.o.

Construc on of the underground structures tests necessary for assessing their technical condi on

Underground structures, due to their loca on, are exposed to many factors that have a de-struc ve eff ect on their construc ons. In order to be able to reliably develop technical exper -se regarding the actual technical condi on of an underground structure, it is necessary to carry out specialized research on its construc on. Currently, there are many research methods that

allow us to perform tests in-situ without having to interfere in its construc on in order to take samples and examine them in the laboratory.
