Cognos Analytics 11.0.5 represents the emergence of new capabilities to compliment technologies released in prior Cognos Analytics versions– Navigation Paths in Data Modules– Improvements to Natural Language Search– Geospatial Mapping via MapBox– Embed/Share Style of Content Delivery– Relational FM Packages in Dashboards
The addition of new visualizations and infographics, often seen as “nice to have”, can have a dramatic effect on the look and feel of the analytic experience

Enhanced Features forPower Users
Features for Power Users:Data Modeling Enhancements
Data Modules• Data Modules are the foundational modeling
structures in Cognos 11. They allow joining of tables from one or many different data sources, creation of calculated columns, and now have some basic data cleansing capabilities such as trimming, NULL handling, and adjusting of case
Navigation Paths• Navigation Paths are collections of non-measure
columns that business users might associate for data exploration that offer a drill-down and drill-up capability much like hierarchies in a cube. However unlike cube hierarchies, Navigation Paths don’t require strict hierarchy, like Time or Location, but can drill-across elements from different dimension, Year → Country → Product.
Data Modules and Navigation Paths Review
What are they?– Navigation Paths in a Data Module serve as guides to some aspect of
an enterprise data structure where columns have been grouped in a way that offers a drill-down and drill-up capability much like hierarchies cubes, but with unique ability to drill-across dimensions.
Who would use them?– They would be created by power users, but used by content creators
to provide interesting and intuitive ways for consumers to navigate information.
Why are they important?– Navigation Paths provide a method for guided information discovery
by a consumer by allowing them to navigate an enterprise data structure with steps down to the detail or up to the summary information.

experience of the consumers.
Why are they important?– These enhancements allow for a more dynamic and
interactive analytic experience that improves speed of insight and user satisfaction.
