Opportunity of transition towards electric mobility
• Dependence on oil imports: expected to rise by about 29% and also have fiscal impacts.
• GHG emissions: Transport sector contributes to 14% at country level of energy sector GHG emission (71% of total) and 13% to 56% at city level (depending on city)* which is expected to rise.
• Local air pollution: 30%-50% of PM emissions and majority of Nox is by transport sector
• Thus there is a need to explore green fuel vehicles.
