Identification and Installation of R-software

if you direct to www.cran.r-project.org , you will be able to find the heading on “The Comprehensive R-Archive Network” and section on “Download and Install R”. The site will look as below:-

Note: Installation of R depends on the selection of OS(Operating System). Available OS (Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows).

Please do take note that the focus of workshop will be on the installation of R for Windows

(a)Click the link on “Download R for Windows” and it will take you to a different site that explains about the sub-directories of R software. This can be seen as below:-

(b) Click the link on “install R for the first time” and this will lead you to a site that can provide you with the link to download the software. This site can be seen as below:-

(c) Click the link on “Download R 3.0.3 for Windows” and a dialog box will appear as below:-

(d) Click “Save File” and the system will start to download the software. To check the progress of it, click Firefox and direct to Downloads. (Mozilla Firefox) It will appear as below:-

(e) Once you have done with the downloading, double click on R-3.0.3-win.exe and this can be seen as below:-

(f) A dialog box will appear as below:- Click OK

(g) Another dialog box will appear as below. Click Run

(h)Selection of language has to be made to the installation and the dialog box on the selection of language is shown as below:-

(i) Click OK. Then, it will take you to a dialog box on Setup

(j)Click Next and a dialog box will appear to reveal some important information to you.

(k) Click Next and a dialog box will appear for the selection of destination location.

(l)Click Next and a dialog box will appear to update you on the components for installation

(m)Click Next and dialog box will appear to check out with you on the start up options (For now, select No to accept defaults)

(n) Click Next and a dialog box on the selection of start menu folder will appear as below:-

(o)Click Next and a dialog box on the selection of additional tasks will appear as below:-

Note: Select :-

(a)”Create a desktop icon”(b)”Save version number in registry”(c)”Associate R with .RData files”

(p) Click Next and the installation will start as below:-

(q) Once the system has done with the installation, a dialog box will appear and click Finish.
