Board of School Trustees

Clark County School District

5100 West Sahara Ave.

Las Vegas, NV 89146

702-799-CCSD

Dear Board of School Trustees,

Since CCSD mentioned that SB 450 would focus on capital improvement and potentially 13 new

schools in our district. Our community looks forward to new Trade schools in 89106, 89030,

East Las Vegas, and other potentially poor communities. These trade schools would be

influential in preparing and supporting students for lucrative skills in various vocations that

enhance local and global citizenship.

LVABSE is compassionate about our community and we work diligently to listen to our

community and serve. We have developed a framework for building youth leadership and

resiliency. The initiative is grounded in Critical Service Learning (CSL) that foci on social

responsibility, systems of injustice that create the need for service, and empowering

participants as agents of social change (King, 2004). “Systems of injustice that create the need

for service” is highlighted because it’s imperative as leaders of our school district, you reflect on

ways your decision making, voting, and policy continues to disenfranchise the communities you

say you serve.

For example, showing up at a community event in Historic West Las Vegas for photo ops, in no

way, shape or form improves the condition of the community, in regard to longevity. What will,

however, increase opportunity for students in our poorest, most hard hit by consistent health

disparities, and exacerbated by COVID-19 is the implementation and building of new schools,

specifically trade schools that will prepare poor students in Historic West Las Vegas, North Las

Vegas (89106 & 89030 zones), East Las Vegas, and other disadvantaged communities. We look

forward to Trustees Cepeda, Garcia-Morales, and Williams to implement a plan to increase trade

schools for their districts that will elevate our most vulnerable students. This my friends, is the

work of equity, justice, and student empowerment.

In Truth and Service,

Kamilah Bywaters

President, Kamilah Bywaters, M.Ed. M.Div.

My name is Darcy Fourman for the record. I wanted to write in and show concern for a non-agenda item. Please do notallow CRT in its many forms and under any other name to make its way into CCSD curriculum. It just takes one rogueinstructor, (there are some already spouting off on FB that they are teaching this already), to cause seriouslegal/ethical issues for CCSD. Our schools do not need social justice warriors teaching our children radical ideologies.Parents should reserve the right to address these issues at home if/when/where they see fit. CCSD should beconcentrating on improving student’s math, english, and science scores so we can catch up with the rest of the nationacademically!! We should not implement budget $$ to drive into a lane that CCSD does not belong in. Leave ideologies athome with the parents! Thank you,

Non-Agenda Item 2.01 - Transparency:

I've been coming to School Board meengs for many, many years. And I have always felt that I was at least heard, and that what myself and others said would be taken into consideraon by all of you, the Trustees, when makingdecisions.

I no longer feel that way. I have lost my faith and my hope for a fair and transparent process. I believethat decisions are being made without ANY consideration for what the public thinks, believes, or supportshappening. And that decisions are being made BEFORE the meetings, BEFORE issues are brought tothe Public, BEFORE issues are commented on, and BEFORE these issues are voted on at the PublicMeetings!!

You are an elected Board. The will of ALL of your constituents should be seriously considered, andyour decisions made based on fairness, equity, and REASONABLE COMPROMISE. NOT on your ownpersonal and political agendas. I have to say that based on my observations, and observations of others, none of you are living up to your duties as Elected members of the CCSD Board of Trustees!

What is the point of Public Comments if they are not taken into consideration by ANY of you, ourELECTED officials!!! This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Please...Do BETTER!!!

Respectfully,

Autumn Tampa

My name is Devin Valencia, I am an instructional asst at Sig Rogich MS. On May 10th, when CSSD sent out the offers for summer acceleration, I accepted the offer. I notified my principal to let her know that I accepted the offer and to keep me posted on further details. She let me know that due to low enrollment, she didn’t think I would be needed but would let me know. I never received an email update, notification or an in person communication for a position. I then filed for unemployment as directed via DETR on Sunday May 30th, since my last work day was May 26th. On June 2nd I received an email from Christie Guida, stating that I should not have applied for unemployment because I was on summer acceleration. I then communicated to her that I was never offered a position for summer. I need assistance on this matter.

Concern: Current CCSD Mask Policy

Comments:

As a former teacher and coach with CCSD I cannot sit by and watch children and families continue to haveunnecessary stress and anxieties over the mask policies; deciding to continue to cover their children’s facesor be pressured to take an experimental, still in trial, non-FDA approved drug. It is unacceptable to continueenforcing these policies at this point with all the scientific data we now have regarding kids and Covid.

I do understand you are following directives from the state of Nevada, however we are at the point whereparents have call and emailed state officials, which has not proven successful. They are not hearing ourvoices concerning our children. I am writing today to appeal to you all as our school board to hear us andtake action for the best interest of our children. The time has come.

Over the past year the science has overwhelmingly shown that our children are the lowest risk group forCovid with a 99.99% recovery rate. In fact, scientific studies show that the virus is almost entirelytransmitted by adults. Furthermore, asking parents to chose between an ineffective mask or a newtechnology vaccine with no known long term side effects is not in the best interest of anyone’shealth. These policies are causing further stress, anxiety and damage to our already suffering children andfamilies. It is time to look at the hard facts and scientific data and drop mask (and any possible upcomingvaccine) policies in CCSD as many states have already rightfully done. Where there is risk there must bechoice, and that choice needs to be in the hands of parents, not of the state.

I will gladly send over pages of scientific studies that have been completed world wide showing theineffectiveness of cloth masks, the psychological damage caused by children not being able to see faces, and the extremely low risk concerning children and Covid.

I am hoping you will hear parents’ voices and do what is right for our children. Because keeping themunnecessarily masked or feeling pressured to inject a drug that will more than likely cause more long-termdamage than Covid, just so uniformed people can feel safe is irresponsible and unacceptable. Our childrenare done being sacrificed “for the greater good”.

Thank you.

2.01 Public Comment - June 10, 2021 (Substitute Teachers) 1 message

Brandon Summers [Substitute] Thu, Jun 10, 2021 at 10:59 AMTo: BoardMtgComments <[email protected]>

From: Brandon Summers | Substitute TeacherTo: Clark County School District Board of TrusteesDate: June 10, 2020Subject: Item 2.01 Public Comment (Substitute Teachers)

Greetings Madame President, Members of the Board, and Superintendent Jara,

Once more, I am sending a letter in regards to better pay, health coverage, PTO, and benefits for substitute teachers. I worked as a vacancy sub from September '20 through April '21 and had no health insurance. This is unacceptable! Nothing about my labor was part time.

Substitute teachers are vital to CCSD's ecosystem and would still be needed if every teaching position was filled. Most recently, I covered (4) days of middle school band for the Summer Acceleration program. I was offered more days to work this week but declined. How does the Clark County School District plan on dealing with the wave of vacancies that will need to be filled this fall? Teachers continue to leave the district at a dizzying rate; and from my count, there were over 250 announced separations this week.

The Clark County School District needs to demonstrate to substitute teachers that they are valued employees by increasing pay and offering health insurance-- especially for long term and vacancy subs.

Thank you.

Sincerely,Brandon Summers Substitute Teacher

Esteemed CCSD Board of trustees,

It is an absolute shame that Global Community H.S. will not be given the Bond issued new school. Lest we forget that there are more and more foreign students filling these classrooms. The former Bi-Lingual school initiative was an aberration and waste of taxpayers money. The trails blazed by the likes of Otto Merida, Lilliam Lujan Hickey, Arturo Cambeiro, Domingo Cambeiro, Dr. Arturo Cambeiro, Dr. Fulgencio Antuna and many other prominent Las Vegans will certainly be wiped out with the weak plan you are attempting to implement with Bi-Lingual schools. Global Community exists and we persist and insist that WE are the answer. I believe the sole acquisition of the new school be kept for Global and all the up and coming foreign students, which is certain to increase. We have a devoted Principal, staff ready and willing to take on more students. More funding, larger room sizes to accommodate equipment, and higher number of students to succeed in raising the bar for all in-coming foreign students. Creating a separate school on the Bond property allocated for Global is a disservice to our community.

Concern: Current CCSD Mask Policy

Comments:

I am a parent of several children within CCSD, I am no longer going to sit back and let others make a choice for mychildren's health and well being. As a parent that is my job, parents have always been responsible for their children. Deciding to still require/enforce facecoverings that causes stress, anxiety, headaches, etc. is unacceptable. Especially since there is plenty of scientific data regarding kids and Covid. Also enforcing a Non-FDA approved drug ontothese kids when they're the lowest group at risk with a 99.99% recovery rate.

I Understand that as the State of Nevada there are regulations you've been following, However we're at the point whereparents have called and emailed the state officials, which has notproven to be successful. Our voices as parents need to be heard. These are our children, the future! This should be anumber 1 priority, we need to be thinking about their best interests at hand.I am writing you today so we're heard and to start taking action as soon as possible.

Scientific studies show that this virus is almost entirely transmitted by adults. Asking the parents to chose between amask or a new vaccine that is still in trials and Non-FDA approved with no long term side affects is definitely not the best interest of these kids health. These policies are causing anxiety, stress, and damageto our children's health, some of whom are already suffering. It is time to lookat the facts and scientific data and let our kids be mask free with no enforcement to take the vaccine. This is a choice thatneeds to be in the hands of the parents, not the state.

I am hoping my voice, as well as other parents voices are heard and that you will do what is right. They've been followingthese policies long enough and are done being sacrificed for something that is a 99.99% recovery rate. Free our kids smiles!

Thank you!

RE: Non Agenda Commentary

Dear CCSD Board,

With the exception of Trustee Williams, who advocates for all students. I often hear other Trustees presenting "anti-racism" as of only white students or people are bad.

Even though I appreciate Trustee Ford's call for transparency at the 6/9/2021 meeting, I don't think anyone appreciatesTrustee Ford, who on 5/20 , presented an anti-racism discussion presentation as if only white people are bad via telling astory that impugns white people as if no other race is racist.

Trustee Ford engaged in a totally racist declaration that alleged her own person name is a " white person name" I knowmany people name " Danielle" that aren't white

Kind Regards,

Kevin
