St. Vincent de Paul is sponsoring a senior health fair, where there will be information available regarding topics like assisted living, care-giving facilities, adult day care, home health care, veterans’ benefits, funeral planning, and local resources to help us dealing with issues of age and health. Printed information will be available and numerous representatives of various groups will be here to answer your specific questions. POTLUCK LUNCH as usual will be at noon with a short presentation afterwards. Before and afterwards you may browse the information tables and talk to the representatives. This a great chance for us to socialize, enjoy our potluck lunch and gather useful information.

Mercy House invites volunteers to assist at Bridges at Kraemer Place, a 24-hour emergency homeless shelter facility in the city of Anaheim for single men and women. Volunteers help clean, serve dinner, pass out hygiene donations, and interact with the clients, helping out with miscellaneous tasks. Anyone may volunteer over the age of 13. Minors must be accompanied by parent/guardian.

PRO POPULO You might have noticed that listed in the bulletin, in the Mass Intention announcements, the term Pro Populo as the intention for a particular Mass. The term Pro Populo in Latin means “For the People” and Canon Law, the code of law which governs the Catholic Church, calls for the pastor of a parish to celebrate one Mass each week for the intention of the parishioners. This is an ancient tradition of the Church and of the priesthood, which is required to pray for the people in their charge.
