Transfer

A transfer indicates that ownership of the land has passed from one person toanother - for example through sale, inheritance or gift

Joint tenants

lf owners are described as joint tenants they jointly own the property. lf oneowner dies, the other owner/s automatically acquire that person's interest. No

part of the property can be sold, given away or willed without the agreement ofall the owners.

Tenants in common

lf owners are described as tenants in common each co-owner has a definedshare of the property, eg SOYo, loyo, rather than owning the whole propertytogether.

A tenant in common can transfer his or her share to someone else, or that sharein the property to someone else in a will.

Executors

lf the owner of land dies and the land forms part of his/her estate the land isoften transferred to the executor of the will before being transferred to thebeneficiary entitled to the land under the will. ln some cases the executor is also

the beneficiary.

Occupation of owners

Until relatively recently the Certificate of Title recorded the occupation of an

owner, however these details are no longer included.
