These manuscripts were frequently illuminated by images and decorations created by some of the most renowned artists of Europe. Through their beauty and resilience, many of these medieval and renaissance documents survive today , and in 2016, we have the rare opportunity to closely examine and study many of these artifacts of an earlier age. This fall the McMullen Museum at Boston College, along with the Houghton Library and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, will exhibit a unique collection of manuscripts held in the Boston area. Illuminated Manuscripts: The Beauty and Secrets of the Book is a course offered through the Woods College of Advancing Studies at Boston College. Enroll to study these manuscripts up-close and receive special access to these museums and their resources. B
