BAPTISMS: Presenting a child for Baptism is a serious
obligation and requires a faith commitment on the part of the parents
and godparents. This commitment is exemplified by being a practicing,
active Catholic. Parents are obligated to attend a preparation session
before a child’s baptism if they have not attended one in the past
five years. Sessions are held at 1:15 p.m. on second Sundays of
January, March, May, July, September and November, in the Parish
Activity Center. Baptisms are at 1:15 p.m. on the third Sunday of
each month.
WEDDINGS: Please phone the parish office to set-up an
appointment with a priest, in order to begin the sacramental
preparation. Only after this initial meeting and assessment can a date
be set for the wedding. The process requires at least 6 months.
COUNSELING SERVICES: Offered by Bob Skipper at
Spiritual Center of Maria Stein 1-937-299-9005.

Immaculate
Conception
Church
SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, JULY 22, 2018
Dear Parishioners and Guests,
We welcome Tiffany Pierstorff as our new Religious
Education Administrative Assistant for Immaculate
Conception Parish beginning July 16, 2018. Tiffany is a life-
time member of I.C., is married to her husband, Jasen, and
they have three sons: Camden, Brayden and Graysen. Tiffany
has been helping teach religious education on Wednesday
night for many years and has taught Kindergarten Sunday
School for the past 2 years. She also assisted with the music
for VBS for the past 3 years. Tiffany grew up going through
our I.C. religious education program and is now very excited
to bring her training and experience to help assist and nurture
the religious education program as it continues to grow.
We offer gratitude to Linda Schoen for having
served in our religious education program for many years.
Throughout the years, Linda has demonstrated a deep love
for children and a desire to witness the gift of faith in word
and action. She has helped to organize our religious
education efforts and be a resource to RE teachers. We wish
Linda well in retirement.
Welcome to our annual I.C. Festival! We are glad
that you are here to celebrate with our parish family and hope
that you feel at home with us. The festival is one of our
larger fundraisers and critical to the financial stability of the
parish and school, but it is also much more. It is a
wonderful opportunity to enjoy family, renew friendships
and to enrich parish life. It is an opportunity to witness the
joy of ministry by sharing our time and talent and it is a gift
to become one body in Christ at the Eucharistic table of the
Lord, where all are welcome and all are fed.
The festival is quite an undertaking that relies on
many volunteers and generous donations. We are grateful to
the many people who give so freely of their time and talent.
Thanks to Jeff Schott chairing this year’s festival and all the
festival chairs, to all who help to set up and work at the
Garage Sale, auctions, and other festival events and stands.
We are excited about our Prize Parade raffle that will be held
on Sunday. 33 drawings will take place every 15 minutes
between 1 PM and 9 PM giving away over $55,000 in prizes.
On behalf of the parish, we are grateful to Bud’s Chrysler-
Dodge-Jeep in Celina and Bud’s Chevrolet-Buick in St.
Marys for the 2018 Chevy Cruze, to Dr. James Schmit for
providing the tanzanite & diamond ring, to Francis Furniture
for the shopping spree and to many other generous
businesses and people who have donated to the raffle. And
we are grateful to the many parishioners, friends and guests
who come to enjoy this weekend and to support our efforts to
further the mission of Jesus at I.C. parish and school.
We ask God’s blessings for favorable weather and a
safe and enjoyable weekend for all. Have a great time at the
festival!!!

environment for all children. Anyone wanting to volunteer

K of C Barbeque
On Sunday, August 5, from 10:00 a.m. till sold out
the Celina Knights of Columbus 1800 will be serving
chicken dinners prepared by 2 Willy’s Barbeque. As in the
past there will be a drive thru on Wayne Street in front of I.C.
Elementary. There will also be waffles for sale. The K of C
would like to thank all who have supported these barbeques
in the past. With your support the K of C has been able to do
their charitable help.
Thank You! The I.C. Vacation Bible School program “Take a
Splash with Jesus” was a success thanks to our many
volunteers. We appreciate everyone who volunteered with
money donations, material donations, and their time and
talents.
Our attendance was 64 children ages 3 to 10. Many
older students volunteered as VBS station helpers, group
leaders, decorators and painters. Children learned many ways
that Jesus is with us and many got wet during the program.
Check out the I.C. School float in the Celina Lake
Festival parade as the children got to put their hand (paint)
impressions on the blue tarp. Jesus loves all the children and
so do we.
Lay Pastoral Ministry Program
Pope Francis calls us all to “missionary discipleship”.
The Lay Pastoral Ministry Program can equip you to respond
with a “Yes!” The LPMP is sponsored by the Archdiocese of
Cincinnati and helps lay men and women grow in faith,
discern and develop gifts for ministry and gain the knowledge
and confidence needed to serve families, communities and
parishes more effectively. Saturday morning and afternoon
courses in Church history, liturgy, ecclesiology, morality and
Christology fit into a busy adult schedule. Interviews are now
ongoing for the non-degreed Certificate option offered at
Sacred Heart of Jesus in McCartyville. All lay students will
receive a 25% tuition reduction this year, so there has never
been a better time to learn about your faith and prepare for
new opportunities. Call Deacon Hal Belcher 419-305-5486 for
information or to schedule an appointment.
