Together in Mission Appeal Follow-Up Weekend

As each parish household prayerfully reflects on the amount of the pledge to be made to help these parishes and schools, please reflect on the

following questions. 1. Do I really believe that I have a

duty to help others who are in need? 2. Is what I give to the work of the

Church enough to show how grateful I am for what God has given me?

3. Do I appreciate how important every

contribution to Together in Mission is to the peo-

ple in the subsidized parishes and schools?

We are very excited to announce that we have arranged with our financial institute, Chase JPMorgan Bank, to process your parish contributions

through a secured, confidential, and hassle-free Automatic Clearing House Program (“ACH Program”) to automatically process your contributions. ACH eliminates the need for you to write checks and allows you to give,

even if you are unable to attend services. Please feel free to call Maria Martinez in our parish office if you have any questions.

Did you know? You can help create a safer environment for children by leaving your parish

or community environment safer each day than when you started. This could be as simple as training yourself to do a more effective job of

keeping your eye on those around you when they interact with children. It sounds overly simple, but most of us don’t really do it, and it can be an

easy habit to develop. It just takes persistence and a way to measure your success. For example, in order to make yourself “notice” those who are

interacting with children, you could try counting the number of children you see each day interacting with non-parental adults. Okay… so this would be a little unrealistic for a schoolteacher, but for the rest of us, it could be a very big learning experience. To learn more about parish efforts to create

safe environments for our children, please contact the parish office.

SOLID FAITH Today we hear Moses and the

Lord Jesus summon their followers to listen attentively to their words. Moses reminds the

people that a great blessing awaits those who obey the

commandments of the Lord. Jesus tells his followers that those

who listen to and act upon his words will be like the wise man

who built his house on rock. Saint Paul recalls for us the

central truth of our faith: that we have been justified freely by

God’s grace through the redemption of Christ. In a society

in which we are constantly bombarded with words, let us take the sacred words we hear

today to heart. May these words strengthen our faith and make that faith as solid as that house built on rock. © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.
