Part AFor the assignment, you will choose a high-potential, new-to-the-world concept in your particular field of study (TE/ME/EEIT/EEE/IT/SE/IT[MBT]/IT[NC]).

The New Product Business Case presents the argument for why your new product idea will ultimately be successful. For your concept, you can chose either to sell the idea to a specific company or create a new one under a new brand either choice is fine, but the rationale must be fully explained. The new product/service case should include the following:

Product/Service Rationale and Financial Goals New Product Vision, Roles and Screening Criteria Relevancy and Need-Intensity of Customer Problem(s) Addressed Product Name (optional), Description, Features, Benefits Points of differentiation Target Audience(s), Profile and Size Financials (3-year range of revenue, gross profit and operating profit (annual and cumulative)

Exhibits can be added to provide new information that is important to the case. Additional relevant data can be included in an appendix. In particular, your paper should focus on chronicling the process from which your concept was born. All assumptions and strategic choices should be included.

Evaluation will be based on thoroughness of analysis, logic of conclusions and recommendations, level of uniqueness and creativity, impact of concept and application of frameworks (ie. models) presented in the documentation.

The financials should be based on realistic market information. Assumptions should be grounded in some facts, trends, and primary data collected through your research.

Part A of this assignment carries 80 marks.

Part B

In todays highly competitive environment, illustrate how your company/organisation can manage innovation better within the organization so as to stay ahead of its competitors in the industry?Part B of this assignment carries 20 marks.

The RequirementsThe assignment must adhere to standard academic documentation standards: Please use appropriate citation and reference according to the Harvard Name Referencing System in order to avoid plagiarism. Font type should be Times New Roman. Font size should be 12 pts. Vertical/line spacing should be 1.5 line spacing. You must use enough of your own words to convince that you understand what you are writing and are not just cutting and pasting. Normally your own words should be no less than 80% of the total word count. You should on no account make reference to www.wikipedia.com, www.about.com, www.alibaba.com or the likes as sources for your work. These websites can be useful to provide you with the definitions and the general ideas about the concepts within module but it is not acceptable to be inserted into your academic writing. You may include diagrams, figures, tables etc. without word penalty. You are required to use at least 5 references where all of them are from relevant textbooks, magazines and academic journals. A sliding scale of penalties for excess length will be imposed according to the amount by which the limit has been exceeded. Your word count must be indicated on your cover page. 40-49%Some understanding of the relevant models and concepts. Some elements of an appropriate structure are present. Restricted analysis of some issues.

50-59%Evidence of reading and research. Understanding of the application of appropriate models and concepts is demonstrated. Key issues are identified and analysed, although this may be restricted at times. Some source s are acknowledged.

60-69%Evidence of wider reading. The assignment effectively interprets the information and exhibits the integration of ideas across the subject area. The assignment has credible recommendations. A systematic approach to development and evaluation is used. Most sources are acknowledged and referenced using Harvard system.

70% and aboveArguments are clear and convincing. Confident integration of theory and practices is demonstrated. Consistent referencing to sources using the Harvard system.
