Welcome to our Lockdown Newsletter. We hope that you are all managing to cope in the circumstances. The situation of social distancing and lockdown are proving challenging and we have full sympathy and admiration for all of you having to do this with young children who may struggle to understand what is going on.

As one session was about to come at an end and preparation to begin the new session were being done, unfortunately the school had to be shut for staff and the students due to the spread of corona virus according to the directions of the government. But shutting down of schools temporarily did not meant shutting down of education or holistic development of children. We have explored and identified alternate

ACCEPTING THE CHALLENGE…. "Let's not fear change start embracing it because life is all about changes, moving on and looking forward to the predicaments where life makes us stronger and adaptable" As a result of the long strenuous process of research, inquiries, planning and collaboration, JISians put their heads together to come up with a pin point precision strategy to impart knowledge to our students with the medium of virtual space while ensuring two way communication as a means of home connect for students with their teachers

Classes were started for classes X and XII from the last week of March and specially curated videos were put together by each teacher and shared with students to which they responded on regular basis, shared their inputs and cleared their doubts. Regular online classes via the ZOOM platform were stared from the first week of April for all the classes for thorough induction and learning till summer break which was announced from 08thJune 2020.

BEGINNING OF ONLINE CLASSES…

We at JIS everyday strived for the holistic development of the students. Contrary to the common belief that a student only gains wisdom of scholastic and co-scholastic areas in school premises, we have enabled intellectual progression and provided an opportunity to indulge in various co-scholastic areas

Facilitators not only empowered students with optimum knowledge but provided them with ample resources by sharing the online video tutorials of the concepts taught in the class. These tasks were not only limited to education or studying core academic subjects but for the holistic development of students teachers have also taken co-curricular activities such as art and craft, music, dance etc.

also that strengthens skills such as patience, leadership, coordination, endurance etc within the safe shelters of their home during lockdown.. due the ongoing novel Corona Virus.

Many workshops and webinars were also designed and organized for the students to attenuate the intensity of the disheartening spell casted by COVID-19.PDF's of the various books were also circulated by the teachers for those students who were not able to get books on time because of the pandemic. Following the facilitation of ample resources, online test were also conducted with the medium of 'Google Forms' to check the progression of students in academic subjects. Final

uploading of the marks was also done successfully and teachers have crafted a special, thought provoking holiday homework which will test the various skills of the students such as research, thinking, imagination, communication etc.Physical fitness of the students was also kept in the mind and online workout sessions were also organized by the school authorities.Students being the most optimistic ones have enjoyed

this as the gifted time to cherish.

A virtual P.T.M was organized on May 23, 2020. All the teachers informed the parents about the performance of their child, upcoming Online Assessment and Summer Vacation. They were also briefed about the syllabus covered in online classes so that they can help their ward to complete and revise the work done. We extend a heartfelt gratitude to all the parents for their enthusiastic involvement in the innovative virtual P.T.M conducted using technology and all the

appreciation which kept pouring in recognising the transformational efforts of the school and teachers.

We staunchly believe that communication is an essential part of learning. With the motivation and support, extended by our torchbearer Ms. Indu Sharma (Principal) we are able to explore new heights in our work. In these turbulent times also her farsightedness has guided our path. Various online staff meetings conducted by Ma'am to deal with nuisances and exploring various solutions to them have

ONLINE STAFF MEETINGS AND WEBINARS… been a guiding light for all of us. All new ideas are always welcomed by her and then the probability and practicality of those are discussed with the entire staff that motivates each one of us. All the initiatives taken up by the staff are always appreciated. Hence, we can say that all the staff meetings have been fruitful and helpful for all the staff members. Our team will ensure that even in these times when the whole world may have come to a standstill but learning must and will go on. A wide range of webinars and online workshops were also attended by our staff members during this time to keep up with the new trends in the field of education.

On 22nd March 2020,our honourable PM Mr. Narendra Modi had announced a voluntary 14 hour 'Janta Curfew' to encourage people to adopt social distancing amid the coronavirus spread. He also urged people to come out on their balconies at 5pm on that day to applaud medical professionals and frontline workers fighting the outbreak. A message was circulated by our team to actively involve all the students, their parents and staff members to unite and follow ''Janta Curfew ''. They were also advised to stay at home to

FOLLOWING JUNTA CURFEW… stay safe on 22nd March from 7am to 9pm they were also urged to involve their relatives and neighbours to follow Janta Curfew and initiative taken up by our honourable PM. The purpose was to lay emphasis on individual determination and restraint through social distancing. It was also done to express our gratitude towards the frontline workers and medical practitioners who are performing their

duties during the coronavirus outbreak.

On 5th April 2020, our honourable prime minister, Mr. Narendra Modi urged the citizens of India to switch off lights for 9 minutes at 9pm on Sunday to show solidarity to end the ''darkness'' of coronavirus. Our team at Jagannath International school supported the PM's initiative and even propagated his message to our students and their parents. All the students and staff members of our school enthusiastically lighted the candles or diyas of hope and unity to fight against covid19. This act of lighting candles delivered a message of collective strength that can end the

involvement and support in the initiative.

HANDPRINTING ACTIVITY….

Nothing great is ever achieved without enthusiasm. It is with this spirit that we initiated 'Hand Printing Activity' for our toddlers of KG on 7th April 2020. There is nothing more adorable than a craft made with little hands. The children splattered their hands with different colour paints from the palette and printed the impressions of their palms under the watchful eyes of their parents. The children had learnt colour recognition and eye- hand collaboration through the activity. They were amazed and delighted, and admired their priceless pieces of art! Creating and learning are key components of education. The objective was to engage, encourage

and inspire the students amidst the lockdown.

SHOE LACE TYING ACTIVITY….

"The key is in not spending time, but in investing it" .With the same thought in mind children of class 1 invested their time of quarantine in enlightening themselves with a new skill of tying the laces which might be a very small step but taken in a right direction to create big changes because we here at JIS, strive for the holistic approach of children and make them believe that 'no skill is less skill' until it makes you learn something and the mission in life shouldn't be merely of surviving but to thrive and do everything with passion, compassion, humor and

style.

Father, a sacred blessing in existence, whose love outshines everything. Norms of the society make us believe that God can only be seen after transcending this human universe but a father is the living embodiment of God who ought to be revered every moment. Almighty has rendered this unconditional love to us in the form of our 'fathers’. Experiencing the same warmth of this effulgent bond, students of JIS of classess Nursery-IV paid their tribute to these marvelous beings by engaging themselves in various activities with their real life heroes. We understand that there is nothing quite as powerful as the bond between a parent and a child. To do our bit and to make children relish and nurture this special bond ; on 13 April 2020 many activities were organized such as making of videos, cards and cakes in involvement of the father with children to make their bond even stronger and they got themselves clicked to eternalize the everlasting ecstasy that they felt with them.

"No one owns the water, no one owns the lands; No one owns the oceans, no one owns the sands; Given by our nature, planet provides for free; Only by hands of the greedy, earth requires a fee. " It is appropriately said that small acts, when multiplied by billions of people, can transform the world. Every year JIS celebrates the Earth Day to illuminate young minds about the relevance of mother 'Earth' and to encourage them to make informed choices for the betterment of our planet Earth. Following the rituals of every passed year, this year again on 22 April, JIS through a series of online competitions strived to develop a responsible provision in our budding minds towards this miraculous planet. Students paid their gratitude towards 'Mother Earth' by depicting the peremptory need to employ the natural resources judiciously. They opted for various mediums to share their thoughts and expressions-making posters, videos, poems, writing slogans, sharing messages to name a few. It was an endeavor to promote environmental stewardship at the school level and students participated with a great zeal. Realizing the worth of billions of lives, we must change the mindset and start believing that Earth does not belong to us but we do.

"There is no velvet so soft as a mother's lap, No rose as lovely her smile, No path so flowery as that imprinted with her footsteps" The morning of 10th May 2020: Mother's Day, dawned bright and clear and we, here at JIS can never forget to pay our gratitude towards this miraculous gift of almighty. Students of JIS commemorated this day with great vigor and zeal. They opted for the 'medley of activities' to express their pious love and pampered their mothers in their unique way. Some of them cooked and made them felt special. Some even massaged their heads to make their eyes rheumy with happiness. Day was a roller coaster ride for the mothers and they all eternalized the ecstasy by getting themselves clicked with their children.

A BOND LIKE NO OTHER! MOTHER….

SENSITIZING YOUNG MINDS TOWARDS MOTHER EARTH…

We have always been exploring varied avenues to combat loss of time and to keep the students engaged constructively even at home. We firmly believe that somewhere inside each child lies the power of creativity and innovation. The school successfully organised Quar-hunt-tine ; Talent Hunt for the students. The fervent little enthusiastics engaged themselves in singing, dancing, cooking, clay moulding, sketching, doodling, painting etc. They used this different time as an opportunity to explore their creativity. The creativity that was presented by the students was praiseworthy. The zest and zeal with which the students performed surprised everyone.

Look how a small virus has pause this Fast paced world, Look how a small virus has trapped us inside our homes, Look how the dynamics of the word a small virus has changed, Look how a small virus has stopped us roam, He is the lord of the land nowadays, Everyone is living under the shadow of his fear, He has seized the throne of kinghood from humans, By the policy of execution he Gave everyone tears, Almost all the countries of the world he has captured, Lakhs he has killed, Millions he has transmitted, And many more are being transmitted, The biggest superpowers of the world are under his control, He does not leave anyone; So cruel, Why is mother nature playing with humans such a deadly game? What is actually her aim? She is a mother; A mother of all creature, But she is sacrificing her own children whom she should have nurture, No! No! no! This is not her fault, She is absolutely correct at her part, This is the result of denying that plea, The plea which she made to us emotionally, That, “child , I am your mother, Stop disintegrating the resources of mine, Take that much from which could fulfill your need As I have enough to satisfy everyone’s need, But nothing to satisfy even one’s greed,” This is the result of desire; the desire to lead a lavish life, Which has now made us all strive, This is the way mother nature is taking from us all a revenge, The revenge we have no answer, This is the way she is showing her anger. So humans get alarmed, This is the final warning of her, Or she has many more arrows like this in her quiver, She is a mother, full of love, Gain love from her, Resources to satisfy your need, Not to satisfy your greed. If you want to see natural beauty. Go to the mountains. They will take your soul and mind away. Where cloud sit after doing their duty. Spend some days in the natural beauty. Far from tension , In nature's attention Go through flight or through train, But once in a life experience the mountains rain. After the rain mountains look more beautiful and take a shower, Its citizen looks fresh having more power(citizens-flaura and fauna) Visit some days in nature' s care, And visit a place with waterfall near . It looks milky white and crystal clear . Listen the sound of the water falling , It looks like it is calling. Also visit a place where mountains and rivers meet . That place looks beautiful where, Pollution is not there. So visit some days in nature's care. Don't pluck off the natural beauty. Everyone would tell you,But its your moral duty. After watching the natural beauty City's condition looks very pitty. But that's the truth sweet or bitter Staying with nature is much much better. By Yash Garg Class X

We know it is somehow next to impossible to be optimistic in the current world scenario but it does not cost a penny to be optimistic and optimism is only key that will get us going in these abominable circumstances and this lockdown has really taught the worst to be grateful of the little yet most significant things in our life. This had also given us time to ponder over our life a little bit more and to understand that there is nothing as important as family. We all have been brought back to our ethics and values which were somewhere got lost in the never ending race of the life. Finally the breaks were applied on our fast moving lives and our mother Earth has also started healing itself after being in the shackles of the humanity from many centuries. For the welfare of the world and our families we should try to remain inside as much as possible and as responsible citizens we must adhere to the various guidelines issued by the government in the best interest of the humanity.

The purpose of a newsletter is to provide specialized information to a targeted audience. A school newsletter can be a great way to develop a strong relationship with parents.

First choose a short title for your newsletter— something like "School News," or “Back to School.” As you choose the title, also take time to think about the newsletter’s theme. What important messages do you want to send parents and families?

Next, establish how much time and money you can spend on your newsletter. These factors will help determine how frequently you publish the newsletter and its length.

Use the body of your school newsletter to keep parents apprised of major assignments and class events.
