founding member of The

Bombay. Husain was
associated with Indian
modernism in the 1940s.

sometimes known as India's
Frida Kahlo. Born to a
Punjabi Sikh father and a
Hungarian-Jewish mother,
she is today considered an
important woman painter of
the 20th century of India
Francis Newton Souza
Francis Newton Souza,
commonly referred to as F. N.
Souza, was an Indian artist.
He was a founding member
of the Progressive Artists'

pupil of Abanindranath
Tagore, Bose was known for
his "Indian style" of painting.
He became the principal of
Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan in
1922.

Shri Jamini Roy was an
Indian painter. He was
honoured with the State
award of Padma Bhushan in
1955.
