Coined the word “Utopia", a name he gave to an ideal
Pope Pius XI canonized More in the Roman Catholic Church

In 1524 he became chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, a position holding administrative and judicial control of much of northern England.
As Lord Chancellor, More had six Lutherans burned at the stake and imprisoned as many as forty others.
