1. Salman Khurshid, former Union Minister and UP Congress President was SIMI's advocate pleading for lifting the ban.

2. In Parliament, it was Sonia Gandhi herself who was the advocate for SIMI.

3. However, in June 2006 the Supreme Court rejected Salman Khurshid's plea and the ban on SIMI stays even as it is exposed as a terrorist outfit.

The study says investigations into the July 28, 2005, Shramjeevi Express explosion near Jaunpur and the Varanasi serial blasts of March 7, 2006, pointed at SIMI ansar (full-time cadres) and HUJI-B agents.

The main accused in the Varanasi blasts, Waliullah, the Pesh Imam of Phulpur in Allahabad, was a SIMI ansar.

Mohammad Zubair, a resident of Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh, who was involved in the attacks in Varanasi's Sankatmochan Temple and the railway station and was subsequently gunned down in Handwara area of Kashmir, was also a SIMI cadre.

Babu Bhai, the man behind the Shramjeevi Express blasts near Jaunpur, was, again, a SIMI ansar who received training at an ICS-run training camp in Ukhia, Bangladesh.

Appeasement means buying off the aggressor by conniving at his acts of murder, rape, arson and loot against innocent persons who happen for the moment to be the victims of his displeasure...the policy of concession has increased Muslim aggressiveness, and what is worse, Muslims interpret these concessions as a sign of defeatism on the part of the Hindus and the absence of the will to resist. This policy of appeasement will involve the Hindus in the same fearful situation in which the Allies found themselves as a result of the policy of appeasement which they adopted towards Hitler. This is another malaise, no less acute than the malaise of social stagnation. Appeasement will surely aggravate it.
