Pressurised gas fire suppressions systems are traditionally used for protecting high value mission critical assets such as generators, data rooms, electrical switch gear, transformers, UPS and standby battery storage areas. In most cases, the critical source of fire risk can be less than 10% of the total room volume in which its contained. This means that a gas flood system is flooding up to 90% fresh air. The cost is enormous. Condensed aerosol fire suppression technology changes this. Whilst it is not suited to protecting data areas, its modularity lends itself to a numerous in cabinet applications such as, machinery enclosures, kardex machines, switchgear, plant, battery cabinets, UPS enclosures, or any area where the fire detection and suppression system may be installed within the risk enclosure. Alternately, room flooding is achieved at significantly lower cost by comparison to pressurised gas or water mist systems for generator enclosures, and the like, or hard to reach areas where the price of pressurised gas becomes prohibitive, as there are no cylinders or pipework to install. This is a short introduction to FirePro , the technology, its uses, applications, its approvals for UK, applicable standards and an insight to case study installations that include Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, Eurostar, Croydon University Hospital, Shell Mex House, and others.
