Presidents Report
It is always a pleasure to hear from one of our memberswhen they give their “Person behind the badge” talk. Ibelieve some of our most interesting speakers have beenour own members, especially when a new member shareshis or her life’s experiences with the other members ofour club.
So we heard from Martin Fothergill, who is already oneof our more industrious and active members. We learntthat what Martin does for enjoyment seems highly dan-gerous to most of us! For a bit of fun he races cars at highspeed and jumps out of aeroplanes (with or without hisglasses). He is obviously an adrenalin junkie!
Thank you Martin for your informative and entertainingpresentation – it is a privilege and a pleasure to haveyou in RCOB.
Martin’s wife Theresa joined us for our meeting, as wellas Kathy Every. As I have said many times, it is always adelight to welcome partners to our meetings.
Thank you Greg for being our stand-in Chairman andhost for the evening. Also a big thank you must go toHeather who did so much to make the district MUNAevent so successful (as well as all the other things she isorganising!). It is members like Greg and Heather whohelp keep the Rotary wheels turning.
I attended the district Presidents meeting last Fridaynight, where I received a good insight into what is hap-pening in district and other clubs.
There are some interesting projects that other clubs areinvolved with, and particularly projects along the lines of“Peace through Service”, the Rotary International themefor 2012/2013. For example, Doncaster Rotary have aproject to help combat family violence, Hampton arebuilding a Peace Pavilion and Dingley Village are assist-ing an Afghanistan refugee to assimilate into our society.
We also got an update on the Rotary International Coun-cil on Legislation recently held in Chicago and attendedby PDG Jenny Coburn. There were a lot of resolutions
