GUITAR We start at the very beginning so there is no prior guitar

knowledge needed.

There are a few things you need to be aware of though...

1. It is a classical guitar class (no rock, pop, punk, metal, thrash

or cool stuff like that).

2. Students will need to purchase their own CLASSICAL GUITAR

($100 to $300) and the text book we use ($15).

Creative Writing In-School Audition Requirements for 2015-16 Teacher: Mrs. Lemine

Audition Location: Media Center

For students who want to CHANGE their MAJOR to CW:

BRING the following to the audition:

1. A folder that you will LEAVE with Mrs. Lemine Your name, grade, CURRENT arts area, phone number ON THE FRONT of the folder.

2. INSIDE the folder you should have 3 ORIGINAL, CREATIVE pieces of writing, a poem, a short story and a piece that talks to me about why writing matters to you (please do not tell me because it helps you express your

emotions!!) May be typed OR handwritten.

3. NO REPORTS from other classes, essays or Language Arts work.

4. IF you come to the audition WITHOUT this you will not be auditioned.

For students who want to ADD a Creative Writing class:**

At this time, I can audition students who want to minor in Creative Writing but I CANNOT guarantee that this WILL be available in the FALL. Vocal Department Auditions Requirements for New Vocal Students

1. Sing a vocal exercise as demonstrated by the choral director. This will show us your vocal range (notes you can hit at the top and bottom of the voice). 2. Sing a song of your choice! This does NOT need to have accompaniment or sheet music. It can be as simple as “Happy Birthday”. If you prepare a song, start at the part that shows off the best part of your voice. Because we know what we are listening for, we will most likely stop you before you can finish the whole song.

3. Match Pitch We will play a series of pitches, and you will sing them back to us. This will show us your ability to remember pitches and recall what you’ve heard with accuracy. 4. Try to sight-read…or not! Sight reading is trying to sing a melody from a piece of music you’ve never heard before. This shows us your note reading skills if you are someone with previous music reading experience. If you don’t know how to sight-read, or don’t want to sight-read, you don’t have to. No worries! There are options available for students looking for a single vocal

class. There are options available for students looking to change

their major to vocal music. In all cases, students must currently be

passing their current arts area.
