MEET THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

Nadine “DJ NOLA” Robertson

Nadine “DJ NOLA” Robertson is an African-American entrepreneur,

radio and television personality. In 2008 Robertson founded the

entertainment company Visionary Entertainment and later expanded

into Visionary Entertainment Media Group (VEMG). During her college

years, Robertson created and launched In the Mix on the University of

North Florida’s radio station (WOSP Osprey Radio) in which she served

as the Station Manger at the time.

Robertson began her career in 2005 at the University of North Florida

(UNF) in Jacksonville, Florida after being displaced by Hurricane

Katrina. In 2008 she was offered a job at the student run radio station

under Media Advisor- John Timpe. In 2008, she became Station

Manager of the university's radio station, WOSP-Osprey Radio,

revamping the station once housed in a one room utility closet. In 2008,

Robertson became the first African American woman Station Manager at

UNF, establishing an underwriting packet to generate revenue into the station via mobile Disc Jockey

services and sponsorships through on campus television ads. Robertson was committed to adding more

urban-top 40 songs to the indie college radio format. She brought in local and major artist through her In the

Mix show providing a platform for up-in-coming artists, she attracted more student volunteers, and could be

seen in the student quad tabling and spinning records at the weekly Market Day events herself.

After graduating Robertson continued to pursue a career in radio hosting In the Mix with DJ NOLA with

Loyola University’s Crescent City Radio while also DJing various community, school, and private events.

Within the past three years Robertson has expanded her brand creating Visionary Entertainment Records,

Visionary Entertainment Magazine, Visionary Apparel and Visionary Philanthropic Media Arts Foundation

sparking a grassroots initiative entitled Step It Up.

In January 2015, Visionary Entertainment Media Group in affiliation with WUPL-TV (My54) will launch a

local cable and internet television show which bills itself as the "In the Mix." Robertson interviews

prominent personalities, usually in the entertainment industry, for the network's paid programming

segment IN THE MIX with DJ NOLA.

In the Mix is an hour long urban video show that interviews both major and up-in-coming

artists, djs, producers and entertainment industry who’s who and is supplemented by 10 music

videos. The show airs every Saturday at 9:00pm on WUPL-TV (My54) in New Orleans and

surrounding areas. In the Mix promotes to an urban demographic ranging between the ages of

15-35. In the Mix is also the primary local marketing venue for music artists and business

Production Overview

In the Mix was created by Visionary Entertainment Media Group’s affiliated agreement between

WUPL-TV (My54). WUPL-TV, virtual channel 54 (UHF digital channel 24), is a MyNetworkTV-

affiliated television station serving New Orleans, Louisiana, United States that is licensed to Slidell. The

station is owned by the Gannett Company, as part of a duopoly with CBS affiliate WWL-TV (channel 4). The

two stations share studio facilities and offices located at 1024 N Rampart Street in the historic French

Quarter district; WUPL maintains transmitter facilities located off Behrman Highway in the

city's Algiers neighborhood.

WUPL shut down its analog signal, over UHF channel 54, on

June 12, 2009, the official date in which full-power television stations in the

United States transitioned from analog to digital broadcasts under federal

mandate. The station's digital signal remained on its pre-transition UHF

channel 24.[10] Through the use of PSIP, digital television receivers d

display WUPL's virtual channel as its former UHF analog channel 54.

The station carries high definition programming in the 1080i

resolution format rather than in 720p, MyNetworkTV's default HD resolution

format, as WWL (and the majority of the former Belo stations, regardless of

network affiliation) carries its HD programming in the 1080i format. Syndicated

programs broadcast by WUPL-TV include The King of Queens, Dr. Phil, Tyler Perry's

House of Payne, Meet the Browns, White Collar, The Middle, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Family

Feud and Criminal Minds. Occasionally as time permits, WUPL may air CBS network programs whenever

WWL-TV is unable to in the event of extended breaking news or severe weather coverage.

In January 2005, WUPL began carrying CBS's morning program The Early Show in lieu of WWL-TV,

which pre-empted the program in the late 1980s in favor of running an extended weekday morning newscast

(which as of 2014, runs for 4½ hours); WUPL also carried the syndicated morning news and talk program The

Daily Buzz until 2012, pairing that program and CBS' morning news programs under the umbrella brand "My

Morning News". WUPL subsequently picked up CBS This Morning when that program replaced The Early

Show in January 2012 (WWL-TV, however, carries that program's Saturday edition as the station does not

currently air local newscasts on weekend mornings).

Sponsorship and Donations

Because In the Mix broadcast on a government-operated public access channel, it is restricted from

selling the typical advertising commercials found on commercial channels. Operations are funded

primarily through public funding from the New Orleans community and donors like you. Local

companies including those out of state can also provide some programming sponsorship. Public access

systems can run certain kinds of underwriting spots to recognize financial contributors who sponsor

programs or make donations to support the channel’s overall operations. These promotional spots are a

great way to market your business or organization while showing your support for public programming

in New Orleans and surrounding areas.

While complying with Federal Communications Commission regulations for non-commercial

television, these promotional spots can look very much like those on commercial channels. Public

television spots typically include these elements:

The underwriter’s business or organization name

How long your business has operated in the area

Your business location, address and/or phone number

A value-neutral description of the business or organization

Trade names, products or services that identify the underwriter

Third party names, corporations or sponsors cannot be included

An established corporate slogan that complies with all FCC regulations found in Section 399B

Proposal for Sponsorship

As a programming sponsor you would help bring In the Mix to WUPL-TV (My54) while also promoting local

artists, djs, and producers to New Orleans and surrounding areas.

In the Mix is used as a platform for undiscovered talent across the world. We currently have 3 episodes

completed with approximately 48 new episodes being taped every year. The show host, Nadine “DJ NOLA”

Robertson, interviews individuals who are either established or up-in-coming participants in the entertainment

industry or community at large. Each episode features music videos from both major and independent music

artists.

In the Mix will feature a guest on each episode. Again the show will also have 48 episodes taped annually.

Promotional spots would appear at the beginning, middle, and end of each show. Each spot is 30 seconds long.

The promotional spots will appear a total of one time a day (12 spots per show). Depending on your

contingency your message can appear up to 48 times a month or 576 times during the course of a year.

Programming sponsorship for In the Mix is only $100.00 per episode, or $4,800 for 12 months. Your

contribution will help Visionary Entertainment Media Group and WUPL-TV (My54) cover operational costs.

Sponsors can submit completed promotional spots or have Visionary Entertainment Media Group produce one

for you. Timothy “Polo Boy Tim” Jackson a local videographer/editor affiliated with the In the Mix show has

agreed to provide promotional spots to sponsors for $100.00 if spot is shot within a 10 mile radius or $150.00

if spot is shot at sponsors’ location. Sponsors will retain all rights to the spot.

Sponsors have the choice to sponsor In the Mix for any length of time – preferably at least one quarter. Daily

show times will remain the same during the term of the programming sponsorship to encourage return viewers

and to allow scheduling of video recording devices. In the Mix show times will appear in WUPL-TV (My54)

cable television menu schedules and online schedules available at www.wupltv.com. In the Mix will also be

promoted on www.visionaryentertainment.net.

Promotional Approach To reach our prospective audience and supporters, we will use a variety of media tailored to the

specific demographics and opportunity target markets. The primary media sources include:

TELEVISION: Paid commercials promoting the show and other promotional exposure through participation in talk

shows and interviews on programs addressing entertainment and community enrichment.

Commercials on the following TV stations:

WUPL-TV(My54), MeeMee TV (18.1), and others.

RADIO: Paid commercials promoting the show, and other promotional exposure through public services announcements

on entertainment and community based stations, participation in talk shows and interviews on

programs addressing entertainment and community issues. Commercials will be

aired on the following stations: WXDR, Crescent City Radio, WBOK, NOTN, Q93 and more.

PRESS RELEASES AND CONFERENCES: Primarily in New Orleans and Jacksonville, FL, we will host pre-event press conferences and other promotional

activities to showcase artists, announce our sponsors, release our interview guest of the week, maintain

momentum for the show and provide on-going exposure for weekly tv show airing.

PRINT: In the Mix will utilize several print media to reach our prospective patrons, including magazines and

newspapers in major markets, in addition to e-zines, blogs, flyers, billboards, street-boards and other

promotional materials.

TRAVEL PROMOTIONS: Through cross-city travel promotions, we will interview the hottest guests from other states. The

primary goal of the promotion is to expand the fan base and provide networking opportunities..

WEBSITE PROMOTIONS: To promote In the Mix we have established connections with other websites to have cross promotional

opportunities. We will also use www.visionaryentertainment.net as a platform to promote the show.
