We always like to start our new year by putting the best foot forward! To do this, we make a few resolutions for ourselves too. Even though this is a personal decision, I have taken the liberty to list a couple of them which makes us achieve our goals and realize our potential. The first resolution is about keeping good health and the second is about keeping our education current. According to an article in Nurse Buff, to keep our health in check, nurses need to incorporate exercise in their schedule and maintain a healthy diet. For exercise, one can pick simple exercises such as jogging, walking or yoga to start with and increase it as much as their body can permit. If we can incorporate at least 30 minutes a day to start with, it takes us on the right path to maintaining a healthy body. Diet is another issue for all nurses. Working long hours, it is a challenge to find time to make something healthy for ourselves. There are plenty of choices around us. We need to make healthy choices. It is what you pick to eat that makes the difference. The second resolution is to keep our education current. It is important for nurses to attend seminars or courses to update their knowledge and incorporate new ideas in their practice. IANANT assists you by creating the opportunity to achieve this goal by conducting education events with continuing education credit hours. The most recent one was organized in collaboration with UT Southwestern Medical Center. This event covered “Comprehensive Stroke education- Susan Alex, DNP, APRN, ANP-BC, NE, Cryptogenic Stroke- Rose Bagh CCRN, RNFA, MSN, FNP-BC, AGACNP-BC and Role of diet and nutrition- "Recipe Makeover"- Shelly Chaudhary, MS, RD, LD. I also want to remind you that IANANT will be the hosting chapter for National Association of Indian Nurses of North America (NAINA) Biennial Nursing Conference in 2018. Let us all join hands together to make it a grand success! Mini Perumal, RN, Editorial Board Chair (IANANT)

Association of North Texas

(IANANT) Editor’s Desk

Dear IANANT family,

Happy New Year 2018 to all! We always like to

start our new year by putting the best foot forward! To do

this, we make a few resolutions for ourselves too. Even

though this is a personal decision, I have taken the liberty

to list a couple of them which makes us achieve our goals

and realize our potential. The first resolution is about keeping good health and the second is

about keeping our education current.

According to an article in Nurse Buff, to keep our health in check, nurses need to

incorporate exercise in their schedule and maintain a healthy diet. For exercise, one can pick

simple exercises such as jogging, walking or yoga to start with and increase it as much as their

body can permit. If we can incorporate at least 30 minutes a day to start with, it takes us on the

right path to maintaining a healthy body. Diet is another issue for all nurses. Working long

hours, it is a challenge to find time to make something healthy for ourselves. There are plenty

of choices around us. We need to make healthy choices. It is what you pick to eat that makes

the difference.

The second resolution is to keep our education current. It is important for nurses to

attend seminars or courses to update their knowledge and incorporate new ideas in their

practice. IANANT assists you by creating the opportunity to achieve this goal by conducting

education events with continuing education credit hours. The most recent one was organized in

collaboration with UT Southwestern Medical Center. This event covered “Comprehensive

Stroke education- Susan Alex, DNP, APRN, ANP-BC, NE, Cryptogenic Stroke- Rose Bagh

CCRN, RNFA, MSN, FNP-BC, AGACNP-BC and Role of diet and nutrition- "Recipe

Makeover"- Shelly Chaudhary, MS, RD, LD.

I also want to remind you that IANANT will be the hosting chapter for National

Association of Indian Nurses of North America (NAINA) Biennial Nursing Conference in 2018.

Let us all join hands together to make it a grand success!
